ever since the softeware upgrade I have to log in to post 2-6 times per post and get "not logged in messages" imediately after logging in! I cant take it anymore. It is worse on some PCs. On my work PC I cant post at all! Keeps says I have no permissions! ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY. Ive cleared out all my cookies and temp files and everthing. I can barely post anymore :(

I logged in the first time i came on here and haven't had to do it again. I don't know what causes your problem, but I doubt it's this forum software. What level of Internet Security do you have on your PC, and do you use any firewall/cookie/etc type of program?

I dont know, but it could also be related to using different logons.. maybe the cookies get confused or something?

Btw, I'm moving this to Support, since others may also have this problem, or be able to shed light on the situation

Not sure how I can help ya other than what tam said...

Could it be the fact you have more than 1 account?

On ANY site running vB I've never had to log in every 2-6 posts.

This site I've logged in once at work and once at home and never had to log in again.

The only logging in issue i've had with vB was on SN where randomly every 3-4 weeks it would forget my info. I think a recent upgrade fixed that problem.

What IE/Netscape version are ya using?

I use 6-7 PCs at work and 2 at home all with EI 5.5 or better. It started the day you guy did the upgrade on all but one of the PCs. I also go the other vbulliten sites with multible account but have no problems.

I hit post a reply, be promted to log in, have it say thank you Fordman50, type my message, hit post rely again, THEN be promted 1-3 more time before it looks like it takes, then it will come back and say "no specified thread to post to" (or something like that) Then I have to click "back" through all the log in pages to the message and click post pley yet again and usually it will post (or not). It has become extreamly burdonson to partisipate it the discussions and often I just give up after loosing so many messages.

I don't know what to tell ya Ian...

Anyone else having this problem?

I will ask some friends into vB...

But I honestly do not think this can be a problem with my site, as im using a vB build that Sn used until we upgraded 1 week ago...

I will upgrade to the newer vB version soon, and we can see if that fixes anything.

Could it be because you have a few different SN's and you are having to log out and log in as Fordman..I dunno just a thought..

Im not too sure, but maybe your cookies are being erased... or your using a setting that doesnt allow cookies.

Ian are these computers at work?

Do you guys run default levle security or custom levels of security? Have you tried to add DA to your 'trusted' sites list? Does that change anything?

Does this problem ALWAYS happen or just sometimes?

It should have been, and his account was set to use them, but sometimes the cookies have issues...

It's been happening to me the last few days as well now. If I leave the site or I'm inactive enough to have to refresh to show up on the member list again, I end up having to log in. The family PC downstairs allows all cookies too (mine's still busted) and I'm set to keep cookies here too.

The whole damned PC has been acting weird here anyway. I'm debating doing the annual HDD flush & reload on it...

I generally access the net via my uni network, so presumably I'm behind a firewall and some high-kicking security type-stuff, but I can't post at all when I access via the LAN. I've got a dialup connection which I use to post occasionally, but since I've already paid for access via the uni network (which is at least 10x faster than my crappy little 56k), I'd like to be able to post from me network connection. I realise that I've sent email about this to webmaster@discussanything.com and to manu@discussanything.com, but when I've sent mail to those addys in the past, I've never had any response. Whether that's because I'm regarded as some weirdo who's best kept away or not I don't know, but meh. Anyway, apologies to any admins who are seeing this moan for the second or third time, but I really would appreciate it if anyone who knows of a way around this could see it in their heart to help....

Could you try emailing me tonight? I do not recall getting emails from you...(though I may just miss them, I get over 20-40 emails a day between here and StangNet.

And please describe your exact problem.

...did you receive the email? I'm not at all sure how the uni servers work so I've no idea whether or not you'll get the mail.....if you haven't received it, I'll send it via hotmail instead.
