I can never seem to rip these new games. I try, with CloneCD and Fireburner, but no luck. What utilities do y'all use? I'd really love to distribute a few copies of Soul Reaver 2 to the general public. Smashing good fun, that.

If you have a retail copy, and try to distribute it on the internet, you'll have a pretty difficult job. Most games have some sort of copy protection which is defeated prior to being warez'd/iso'd on the net. One program I *HIGHLY* reccommend is Disc Juggler. Every Dreamcast person has it because its a professional duplication program and it does a great job. I can set you up with an evaluation if you'd like. Then after you extract or build an image, use a program like WinRAR to break it up into 20mb chunks, and send away. Some games have so little copy protection, or somebody releases a simple patch of the exe which bypasses the copy protection scheme altogether. Your best place to find one of those would be like gamecopyworld.com or astalavista.com .

I'm talking about high-bandwidth all-night FTP sessions, undernet #oldmemphis goodness. I know my share about defeating copy protections, but this SafeDisc v2.0 method is a pain in my rectum. They do something to the sectors to weaken the signal that comes back from the CD-ROM, causing beaucoup read errors, and only the encrypted executable knows where the mines lay. *THAT*'s my problem. Also, I'm a purist when it comes to game distribution, and I don't like to rip anything if I can avoid it. Pure ISOs, CCDs, or BINs for me. This rules out using someone else's cracked executables, and the can of worms inherent therein.

btw- if you have clone cd, there are good settings for cloning games, I can clone just about everything.

EFnet is over-rated. #warez950 is the only place you can get anything done, and they're constantly making the channel invite-only. The thing about #oldmemphis on undernet is that it's a sleeper. You can actually chat with other 133+ w@r3z d00dZ without being flooded by constand fserves and scam "leech" ftps, etc. And sorry about that apparent "dick-slapping". DaOgre gets excited.
