Okay! I am getting my wisdom tooth pulled in less than four hours! Cripes! I don't know what to expect!

I USUALLY have a high tolerance for pain... hope it arrives at the appointment with me.

Lastly, I have purchased an array of soft foods... if anyone knows of anything else that could help, let me know, PLEASE :)

Let's see... shopping list this morning:
Ice Cream (I am not a fan, but I hear it is one of the best things for this sort of experience.)
Tons of yogurt
Those cup'o'soups... Kinda like ramen.
Applesauce
Canned fruits
Canned soups

Anything else that would be ok?

I got mine pulled last Saturday and they still kill. I only got the bottom two pulled because it was 6pm by the time they finished, they were called inter(something) which means they didn't break the gum surface, but rather they were in the jaw slamming all the other teeth. I was supposed to starve all day so I could be IV sedated, or nitrous'd... but come my 3pm app't, I decided to have two handfuls of cheez balls, and they said no to everything fun. So I watched them cut holes in my jaw for the next 3 hours. Oh, and if yours are like mine, they stitch your cheek to your jaw to promote skin growth so you can't really talk or go to work or nothin.

Oh, good luck with the teeth!

So is that it!? LOL. That sucks man.

My number 32 molar is being pulled due to tooth decay. A couple of years a go a dentist said it would have to come out since it is hard to reach. It wasn't impacting any of my teeth, and from the X Rays, the doctor said all he had to do was *yank*.

What are you eating?

I had a decent experience when I got mine pulled.

I didn't have much pain (god love vikes) and I was on semi solids after a few days and soldis about a week later.

I slept a lot too!

Cool, good to hear of one experience that wasn't horrible. lol.

Sleep is good, I am looking forward to a relaxed, drugged sleep. :)

My wisdom teeth operation was a nightmare. I'm pretty sure I had a near death experience during the first one.

If i had to do it again I probably wouldn't do it. I have a high tolerance for pain and don't mind getting hurt or anything (i'm guessing anything will heal anyway) but noone touches my mouth again, ever!

I had my wisdom teeth pulled last year on my birthday! It was not a very pleasant experience, but you'll be okay. Something that really helped me...and it's kinda weird...but you ice the area with a bag of frozen peas. It's better than ice because the peas conform to the shape of your face. Also, lots and lots of vicodin!

Anyway, good luck. It probably won't be quite as bad as you think.

Militaery dentists are great aren't they?lol I had mine pulled on active duty too. All they gave me afterwards was Motrin. I had three days quarters so I found some Southern Comfort to ease my pain!

Get some vitamin E CAPSULES at a health food store. Poke a hole in the cap and squeeze the fluid directly on the empty tooth socket. This will promote quicker healing...

Got all four out by an oral surgeon. Stayed stoned for 2 days, swelled up like a hamster, but nothing I couldn't handle.

Just don't SUCK on anything . . . :D

But licking is fine!

Mine were all aligned properly. They removed my uppers for some reason. I have had teeth removed before for the unnessary orthodontics I was subjected to and those removals were not much different if I remember correctly. I was scheduled to have the bottoms removed but just never bothered. There are still in there and a PITA to floss daily.

They told me not to smoke, I lit up as soon as I got out of the dentist's office. It made the gauze turn a lovely color. Blood and tar mixed is really quite beautiful.

I'm done. It was pretty easy. It did not feel like an operating, just a yanking. He numbed the right side of my face up and used a little tool and yank. The side of my head aches more than my tooth, of course, it's been less than 90 minutes! He gave me vicodin, I just took one with yogurt.

I hope the rest is this easy! :)

Thanks for the stories, it made it less "nerve wrecking".

Wow! I had general anesthesia when I got mine out, so I was totally out of it for like 5 hours afterwards!

You sound like you're doing great already!

I had all of mine cut out when I was 15. It wasn't too bad, except for when the stitches would start to come out and you'd nearly choke on them...

Nic, stitches!?

Thanks Manu.

Yep, I haven't had any problems, they were removed at 2PM and so far I feel okay.

Everyone's procedures sound so complicated, I think it took this guy a total of 15minutes to yank it out.
