:( I did not want to post this previously because I did not want anyone to think of me as a bigot but I have a major bone to pick with people from Poland, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and so on. I hate these people and this is why.

My Ex was a Czech bitch and she and all her friends were evil nasty sleazy people. They all drink, smoke like chiminies and have no regard for anything American.

I live in a community that is mainly foreign, with lots of people from Poland or Czechoslovakia. I find all of these people pushy, obnoxious and they have no desire to assimulate. They come to this country to get their hands on as much US money as they can. They take decent jobs from Americans. They drink, sleep with eachother's wives and beat their children.

I actually heard from one friend who works with some Polish people that some of his co workers were glad that the world trade center was hit. They were telling him its about time the US got a taste of its own medicine.

I say send them all back home.

at my previous job a couple of my collegues were from former yugoslavia. Even tho I would have to say they're different people with different values etc, but I had no problem with them. They didn't seem anti and were adapting to holland very well.

Exactly the point of my thread elsewhere about stereotypes... I've met a few cool Eastern Europeans, and some jerks as well. I try to judge everybody on their own merits though. As I've said before, I'm perfectly capable of deciding you're an ******* on your own merits - LMAO!

You may be right. There may be some decent people from that corner of the world. The problem is I have not met them yet.

I think that most people I know are predjudiced against someone or other. I have always tried to be open minded myself. I guess I got a bad feeling about these people because of my marriage.

I was lucky by the way. I have a friend whose wife who was Polish and she had some guys try to kill him. The moral of this story is only marry someone from your home country!

One thing for sure, Eastern Euros are very bad for the NHL. They do not fight, but they will occasionally use the stick for a cheap shot. That fact combined with 2 refs instead of one, and league execs who want fighting out of the game have made the sport of hockey very boring.

There are so many women of almost any background who are evil, nasty, and sleazy when given the chance. So in the interests of finding some for possible dates, please post phone numbers of broads who are the nastiest. Beggers like me can't be choosers. Yeah baby.

Well, americans don't exactly embrace other cultures either.

Where do you live to be around these types? In Central Va, everyone is either of english or African decent and they have ALL been here for at least 300 years! Pretty white bread in my neck of the woods now-a-days.

Shoot Ian, Greater Atlanta is about as ethnicly diverse an area as you're likely to see. You name 'em we've got em:) I don't think even the SF Bay Area was QUITE as diverse when I lived there...

I'll admit, not all my relatives are a ray of sunshine, but, for the most part, we're good people....

Chicago suburbs. In the inner suburbs just west of the city there are all of these ethnic factions. The town I live in is mostly mexican now but it used to be a lot of Bohemians and Poles. Now a days the only Czechs and Poles are the new people just off of the plane. I live here because I could aford a house and my ex-bitch liked being among her own kind.

My great-great grandmother and my great-grandmother came over here when my great-grandmother was growing up (that's my grandma's side, at least - not sure about my grandpa's, but I know his parents were both born in Croatia).
When my mom was growing up, my grandpa used to help out the new immigrants who only spoke Serbo-Croat by translating for them till they could learn English.
And yes, I do have nasty, sleazy relatives - people in jail for drugs, alcoholics, etc. - but really, what family doesn't? I also have some wonderful people in my family who are intelligent and honest and loving, and who would give you the shirt off their back.

Interesting history Aph, that's really great that your grandfather was willing to help other immigrants. I haven't researched my family history as much as I should have, but they've been filtering in from before the revolutionary war all the way til after the civil war. Nathan Hale ("I regret that I have but one life to give for my country") is supposedly in the family tree somewhere on my dad's side of the family...

Anyhay, I'm getting sidetracked here... We WERE discussing stereotypes & people from easterm Europe. Once again your example serves to illustrate my point. Stereotypes of ANY type are divisive & dangerous. All groups have good and bad members & everyone should be judged on his or her individual merits.

Its not that weird, really. Hawaiians basically are descendants from the Japanese. Her mom is japanese even though she's from Hawaii. She IS american though....
