View Full Version : Does anyone eat the frozen healthy meals?
buggy 11-21-2001, 03:02 AM I have been trying to stick to the 4-5 small meals a day thing, and I have found that these little Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice meals are the best way to go. Not to mention, at $2 a pop, they're very affordable.
Does anyone here eat those? It's usually a crap shoot as to which ones actually taste like food, and which ones are more like cardboard!
So far, the three I like are:
Lean Cuisine Chicken and Vegetables
Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken
Healthy Choice's Chicken Enchilada.
Thanks,
Cris-
They can actually be fairly tasty...but they are by no means healthy!
If you're doing the 4-5 meal a day thing in order for weight loss (which is what im assuming?) try to stick to some more 'natual' meals. Those frozen ones are so full of perservatives....
buggy 11-21-2001, 12:07 PM They're pretty low in calories, and have decent nutrients. Do you have any websites that suggest quick and easy meals that are "natural"?
Thanks,
Cris
lemme check out my dads site...
And no, unfortunately off the top of my head I dont know quick and easy stuff. That IS why those lean cuisine meals are great.
buggy 11-21-2001, 12:22 PM Yes, I totally agree, quick, easy and affordable. I work 12s, the only time I tried to grill chicken and vegetables, I was late to work... lol. So, they're kind of life savers.

Snouter 11-21-2001, 12:30 PM While Manu is checking into it, try the prepared food at a healthfood store. Large meals are obviously not good because of the burden on the body's digestive system, but what do you mean by 4-5 small meals? This may not be a good idea. You body needs time to digest and recover and detoxify which this may inhibit.
Try Wild Oats (Sun Harvest in Texas) or Whole Foods:

Allegra 11-21-2001, 02:21 PM I eat them sometimes. The Weight Watchers veggie lasagna is my favorite.
Corporate Avenger 11-21-2001, 08:35 PM Amy's.. All natural, no crap added.. And you can get them almost anywhere..
buggy 11-21-2001, 09:40 PM Snouter,
It is suggested that you eat 4-5 smalll meals as opposed to three large meals. I'll try the health food stores, I've seen them, but never thought to go in there. Cost is a factor! :) So I hope it's not very expensive. I'm facing lay offs, so I am trying to be a cheap wench.
Thanks folks, for the advice, I will try and check out "Amy's"

Corporate Avenger 11-21-2001, 10:49 PM Yea the Amys brand stuff is pretty good, (although I don't eat much of it cause I don't eat much frozen food). The thing is most diet foods are actually loaded with the junk you most want to avoid. Hydrogenated fats are probably the worst thing for somebody trying to diet, yet I've found them in soo many diet foods it makes me sick. Then there is Aspartame which is another highly toxic chemical added to most diet foods that even has the side effect of giving people a craving for simple sugars.
I used to only see Amys at health food stores but know I see it everywhere along with some others. I know some of their stuff is pretty high in fat though but if you cut down on the portion size I guess that can be worked around. At least it's the good fat though as long as it's not from cheese..
