I'm SO FREAKING SICK AND TIRED of little bastages with cell phones. "Hi, I'm Dirk . . . a sophomore at City High School . . . oh, hold on . . . I have a CALL . . . "

And in resteraunts. Look people, I go away from home to GET AWAY. You should try it. If you REALLY think you're THAT important, run for office or something. You're obviously wasting your importance on ruining MY GOOD MEAL. Vamoose! Begone!

Oh, but make sure you finish the phone call BEFORE YOU GET IN YOUR M1 Abrams, capiche???? Just because your girl Miffy wants your opinion on what color eye glitter she should wear to Burger King doesn't give you permission to run me and my Mustang off the road. Bad enough I've got to worry about drunk drivers and 15 year olds spewing trash like "oh, my Prelude will kick your ass old man . . . by the way, what do you mean by it's a 500 horse stroker motor? Is that anything like a 2.3 litre or is it not that big??" Now I've got to worry about a Cadillac Ijustgotlade being piloted by Betty the mindless wonder who is hearing about her best friend Mandy's new perm.

Put down the DAMN PHONE and drive. For the love of God.

If you're THAT SCARED to be out by yourself, bloody well get a gun. I did. I feel much more safe with Glock than I do Motorolla. I don't feel intimidated by a soccer mom packing a .45 caliber Nokia . . . unless, of course, she's driving her brand new Lincoln Navigatetheotherfukersoftheroadsoyoucantalkonyourc ellphoneabouthowcrappyyourhusbandisfornotspringing foralandrover.

And an 11 year old girl does NOT NEED A FREAKIN' CELL PHONE!!!!!!!!! She bloody well shouldn't be out anywhere away from an adult to need one, you know???? "Hi mommy . . . we were out smoking some pot and turning some tricks when Libby's car broke down . . . we need a ride over to the Rainbow Bar and Grill to meet a John. And could you pick us up about 12 . . . I have a geometry test to study for." SHHEEEEEEEESH!

How's that for a first post??

Oh, I have a girlfriend now . . . I don't have to use my hands NEARLY as much as you other losers . . .

yeah, what he said!

actually, I came close to getting hit 3 times in the last 2 days, because of people on phones...

my God, if you can't drive with the phone, don't do it. I have never had a problem driving and using my cell (though I do very seldom and rarely in traffic)

come on people!

No kidding...

Isnt it illegal to talk on cell phones while driving in some states???!! It DAMN WELL SHOULD BE!!

Today on my way to work, My wife and I were waiting to cross a street and people were running the yellow, then red light. Then they are blocking the crosswalk COMPLETELY. This guy in his $50,000 2002 4 Runner chatting on his cell phone is got his front left wheel ON the curb/sidewalk!! Damn asswipe was holding up about 200 people waiting to cross the street, so when I could finally squeeze by the back of his ugly thing I rapped nice and hard on the thin sheet metal. Dick deserved worse...

Actually NY I belive is the only state with such a ban...and that is unless you have a handsfree set...I can agree with that...

My main problem is, none of the data shows that cell phones are more dnagerous...it shows that CONVERSATION is more dangerous. The studies show it is JUST as dangerous to talk to a passenger than to use a cell phone.

Not sure I buy that 100% but I've seen multiple studies which reach that conclusion.

Whats interesting...some cell companies embrace the restrictions on driving...it will make more people buy their accessories!

Dave...never come to CA...you'd go crazy with how many phones we got. :-)

I was at a meeting the other day...all of us had our pagers, cell phones, wireless organizers that beep when we recieve messages. (Well I and someone else had 'traditional' PDAs) but we were a ****ing electronics store. :-)

No worries Manu . . . I don't feel welcome anywhere my gun isn't. :D

Actually, I got hit by some rich boy (16) who ran a bloody strob-enhanced red light. Didn't even slow down. He hit me and another driver . . . and we even stopped to avoid the wreck. He was talking on the phone and going about 60. He admitted he was on the phone. As a matter of fact, he got out of his truck STILL TALKING and told his spooge-recipent on the other end that "I'll call you back . . . I've been in a wreck. Yeah, I'll hurry . . . "

Idiots.

And cell phones ARE more dangerous than talking to passengers. I find that phoners are concentrating AWAY from the vehicle and with the distant person. They're not 'there" you know? Talking to someone in the car is much safer because they can be kind enough to say "LOOK YOU F***ING IDIOT, WATCH THE ROAD! YOU ALMOST GOT US KILLED."

ok, for me, i only have a phone in case of emergencies (like when i've gotten flat tires), but using it while driving is FORBIDDEN. people who use cels whle driving should be brought out into an open field and shot. they slow down traffic or just cause more of it. i almost got pushed off the road on the 10 last week because some ***hole with his cel in his huge suv didn't see me when he decided to switch lanes.

but what bugs me even MORE is when people leave their cels on in class. i mean, GD, if you KNOW you're gonna be in class, TURN THE DAMN THING OFF!!! i can begin to explain how incredibly annoying it is when you're taking a test and you hear little beethoven beeps coming from a bag on the floor a few feet from you. it just bugs the total ish out of me when people use them at school because, you know how you can tell if someon's using it because they NEED to ("hey i won't be there on time..."), or if they're just doing it to get noticed because it makes them look so damn important.

i'll admit, i've used a cel while driving sometimes, but after a couple of seconds, i'll say, "hey i'm driving, i'll call you back later." why can't anyone else have the same courtesy for other drivers??

Have you ever looked around when your sitting in rush hhour traffic and reaslized that you're the only one NOT on the phone? That's scary.

I notice that anywhere, at the grocery store... the hardware store...

It's funny, when you're in an isle and there is someone on a phone having a rather loud personal conversation and you look up, I mean, normal human reaction right, and they give you this "nosey bastard" look... *******s.

I gotta agree whole-heartedly with Dave (and most everyone else so far) on this one, esp when it comes to phones & driving. Atlanta drivers were bad enough before cell phones got really common the last few years!

As for Manu's studies, I've heard of them, along with other crap about eating or even drinking a Coke in the car being just as dangerous. Personally I think the studies were put together by people trying to justify their reckless driving habits.

Side note: Georgia almost had a law similar to New York's passed a while back. All the whining soccer moms and other demolition derby drivers got it shot down though.

i never ever under any circumstances pick up my phone while i'm driving. that is what the damn voice mail/messaging thing is for..it costs like 2 dollars to have it. if its that important they will leave a message. i'm a bad enough driver on my own let alone eating, talking, or some other things that i can't mention that i know some do in their cars while its in motion.

another thing, i have to wait on people at work who can't get off their phones long enough to give me their name and what they ordered so i can ring their order through. they put their finger in the air to tell me "just a moment". errrrr i wanna rip it form their ear and tell them how rude they are being and how i have better things to do then wait for them to get off the phone.

where i live all the towns around me have bans on driving and cellphones. its not a state thing its just the county i live in.

Whats the big deal. If I am alone and eating by myself I always bring my phone with me. The way I see it if I have to sit next to some couple pawing eachother at the dinner table than I should have a right to make a phone call. Who elses business is it anyway?

...just waiting for the brain cancer...
and the difference between two people trying to hump each other in a resturant and a cell-phone is that the phone can be turned off, hormones cant. Besides, dont you like to watch?

You people will surely hate me. I am the one on the phone and driving the 5 spd mustang at the same time. Guess what? I am capable of doing both at the same time. I am no danger to you or anyone else. Hell, most of the time I can't hear the dam cell phone over the exhaust anyway. Don't worry though, its only a matter of time before the federal government does what it does best and forces the states (highway money) to enact unilateral legislation forbidding the use of cellphones while driving.

So you say you're capable, as you're swerving all over the road. The problem with most humans is they don't know their limitations.

Not to mention, for every person who MAY be able to walk and chew gum at the same time... or talk on the phone while driving, there is at least 20 others that can't.

Me too. I had a star tec when they first came out 5-6 years ago. EVERY time I talked on it for more than 5 min I got a strange and intense headache!!!

I will never have a cell again. They are just plain stupid! Would want to be bugged all the time? I dont like getting calls at home, why would I want them anywhere else?

Also, there is nothing less attractive than walking into a party or concert and seeing every other chick on the fugging phone!! What is up with that? Hello!? Its a fuggin party, you talk face to face with the people there, Duuh!

Oddly enough, I feel the intense radiation from my cell phone is like NyQuil, the daytime, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, achy, stuffy head, fever so you can sign your life savings away to SprintPCS medicine.

Think its possible that the cell phone caused those lumps on my pen--is this getting a little off the subject?
