Spießer, What is the general laws regarding the right to bear arms in Switzerland currently. I recall visiting my Aunt years ago and the landlord of the building in Berlingen on the shore of Lake Constance where she resided had some high powered firearms.

Interesting.
Do the "Swiss Guards" who guard the Vatican actually come from Switzerland? Those uniforms resemble those of the Vaticans guards.

It is very much like america. It is not a right. Instead it has been assumed by the people. Before, 1999 each Canton (state) had their own laws to limit people to own guns. Then in 99 they enacted a National Gun Law. Bascially a perment system. And rules: 18 years of age, absence of an apparent risk to the buyer or third persons, no entry in the Register of Convictions for Violent Crimes and Misdemeanors. So it is alot like the American gun laws. But we still have fear, that in the future the government may make it even harder. REMEMBER, we are a small country. Crimes with guns are rare.

I am not catholic, so I wouldn't know
edit: looked it up, and it seems... "They number only about 100, and to qualify, one must be Swiss, Catholic, and at least five feet eight inches (173 centimeters) tall. " I don't qualify.
