I am an addict..No doubt about it

Average month I spend 1800-2000 minutes on my cell.
I am on the road alot and just feel the need to chit chat..as some of you on this board know ;)

I was thinking if it is true about the radiation (?) or whatever from the cell phones I am frying my brain..daily..alot..

I am an addicted too... I use it three weeks out of the month.. the one week I don't use it is when I get my 200 dollar phone bill and swear I am going to stop using it.. but I can't resist the power..

I don't have a cell phone and have no interest in one although they can be handy at times. Close proximity to any powerful electroninc device should be avoided as it messes up proper functioning of living cells. For the ladies out there, sorry but throw out the vibrators. ;) A company makes an item to surpress the bad electronic stuff from cell phones.

I spend prolly 300-400 minutes a month on mine. I commute a lot, and am on campus a lot and gotta keep up the business and the relationship somehow.

I would be interested in learning EXACTLY what kind of damage cell phones cause...

I don't have a cell phone. I'm important enough for someone to find me.

I don't understand the craze. Every 16 year old I meet has three of them . . . and the LAST THING I wanted at 16 was for my parents to have omnipotent contact with me, you know?

Oh, but special thanks to all of you that are addicted to talking and driving . . . more to the point, ATTEMPTING to drive. About the only good thing you accomplish is you take some of the heat off us muscle car drivers. At least we're watching the road . . . :rolleyes:

I think taking on a cell phone and driving should be against the law. Bloody pull over if it's THAT important. I'm sick of having some soccer mom or 16 year old in a 2003 Cadillac Aircraft Carrier pull out in front of me doing 12 mph on a congested 65 mph four lane. Or, even better, driving between 85 and 35 on a 55 mph road. The sign means 55 mph MAX, not average.

I got my cell phone a little over a year ago when my boyfriend and I broke up. Suddenly I was out in the city alone at night -- something that never happened when we were together -- and I just didn't feel safe anymore. So when I got one, I only intended to use it for emergencies...

But I'm addicted to mine also. I try not to use it in heavy traffic on the highway or in restaurants because I think it's rude. Other than that, anything goes. It's funny, I'm always so surprised when I meet someone who doesn't have one, because I wonder how they survive...And I used to be against them. How things change. I just hope there isn't too much merit to the claim that we'll all die of radiation. And if it's true, it's horrible, but at least we'll have company.

I hate talking on the phone. If it's longer than five minutes, I start to tune people out.

That being said, I am not addicted to my cell phone, I can barely remember to charge it. It gets used when I am at the hardware store and forget about a tool I needed to get, or the specs of something I needed to get... or at the grocery store and wonder if we have milk or whatever.

I have one, but its generally for business purposes and the fact that its nice to have one when you are out in the middle of the night by yourself.
I bought one for my wife, because I think it is important for her to have one. Who knows what creep might start following her or something like that. Or if she locks herself out of the car.

Yep...I am the same way. their are very few people I will even answer the phone for....ahhhh, the magic of Caller ID....

If it wasn't for the Cell that work gives me...I probably wouldn't even own one

I wouldn't feel safe going anywhere w/o mine.. dunno why. I went 19 years w/o one :)

I get 250minutes on mine and rollover (cingular) and I rarely use 150 minutes. I think we might do 300 with both phones. We mainly use it for long distance calls and all. I don't even know why we have a home phone!

I think I had 1200 minutes rolled over on my last bill.. will prob NEVER use them

I do like my new Nokia 8260(?) phone :)

Sounds like me. I hate talking on phones. And I figured out why.

When I listen to someone talking I have to pause 90% of my Brain function and use my Resource-Hogging Left Brain to processes the language. Once they are done talking, my ultra-efficient Right Brain analyzes the speech and composes a response and queues it up to be spoken in a matter of milliseconds.

HOWEVER, when I use AOL IM etc., I can read a bunch of text very quickly from you, and while processing it I can do other things and once I have a response queued I can unload it into the keyboard at 100wpm. In this manner I can effectivly carry out about 10-15 conversations simultaneously while browsing Stangnet, DiscussAnything, and CNN.

Regarding Cellphones, I use about 1500 minutes a month. Although I do believe there are biological effects from Radio Wave tranmission I consider them to be negligable to the point that Im not conserned about them.

I think I heard somewhere that sitting for ~30 minuets DIRECTLY in front of an OLD 80s TV or a CGA/EGA monitor will deliver the same amount of radiation as 5 years worth of 1 hour per DAY cell phone use.

25-33 hours a month on the phone . . .

Dave, if you're sitting on a trian/bus commuting, or stuck in traffic on the 405 freeway 2-3 hours a day...you wouldn't see it as a waste of time.

Nope . . . not compared to living in a place where I was stuck in traffic 2-3 hours a day . . . that's for sure.

I can guarantee ya, when I lived 5 minutes from work I DID NOT spend much time on my phone.

this is just funny to me....I get 700 min a month....I think the last time I checked I think it took me either 4-5 months to hit 700 hrs....
when I use the thing the conversations generally aren't any longer than 2 min...

If I want to talk to someone that bad (in length) I would rather get up and go see them..thats just me though...

If I feel the need t talk that much, I'll simply go down to my basement, untie the party in question, and finish the conversation at my leisure.

Life is so much easier that way.

Yup, cells are my new life too... I would find it extremely difficult to conduct work without it. I am on a 2000 minute plan, which, is quite expensive. Although, it sure beats my house phone, plus I can talk wherever I want, whenever I want, which, is worth the $833.39/mo charges.

No, I meant a ridiculously high number. I'm on the most expensive plan, and I have yet to find a way to keep the minutes underneath the plan's allowance.

okay first i like to say to wedge...i have stickers on my honda...lol, but will never buy anything ridiculus for my phone. i am addicted to my phone in a way...i have to use it for ALL my calls, but i don't just pick it up and call someone when i am bored. actually unless someone calls me i don't use it. i don't call people because i'm not one to talk on the phone. though i have made some calls to LA recently on it and they charged me 25 cents a minute for it. my average bill has luckily been 65 dollars...whoa the lowest its been in awhile!!!

As it appears to have turned out, Rayne's been stand-offish because she's going thru some tough times right now, just like me. Probably shouldn't have even mentioned that much, but I'm a little worried about her:( Guess I was the one who wasn't a very good friend:(

yes we were... but to be honest I saw one the other day I almost bought.. it looked like it had rain drops on it.. I thought it was cool

the coolest thing about it, is it came with everything.. battery faceplate and the black peice between it... I think it had a lightening attena too.. but not sure..

I didn't ask how much he wanted.. probably pretty expensive..

... that and we were talking about catchy phrases..
