From the time I was 12 years old I have been into shortwave (now called world band) radio. In the last 10 years I gave it up in favor of the Internet. Lately with all this war going on world wide I had dusted off my old shortwave radio and have been listening up on a lot of stuff. Its always interesting to get an international point of view. Anyone else into shortwave?

I keep mine nearby. But a lot has gotten really bland lately.

Yea, since I discovered the Internet, shortwave is no longer as fun as it used to be. I do remember the first time I used it though....I tuned in Radio Moscow...it was so exciting.
Hey dude, I am glad this thread was finally answered. Its been months since I posted it.

Yes, I once was into amateur radio, but computers are much more versatile. Radios got me started in electronics and I'm still interested in them. I suppose I could build a low power transmitter out of a few clock radios if I had to, especially if I could find some discrete transistors, a spool of wire and a few favorable value capacitors.
haven't keyed up since college. I fried my freq board in my box, so it is just sitting in my closet now :( Might fix it when I get my jeep
with the world of FRS, I doubt I will ever put a CB in my jeep.. too easily stolen

I have a shortwave radio, but I haven't used it in nearly 10 years. It was cool as all hell when I was in 6th grade, though. :)

I still listen late at night occasionally. There were so many more stations and programs as 2000 approached in anticipation of a disaster, most just disappeared since nothing happened.
