Everyday I get up at 6 o'clock in the morning so I can catch the 6:31 train to Flatbush Avenue from Massapequa. That part of the commute usually takes an hour. I usually arrive at Flatbush Ave at 7:35.
From Flatbush Ave, I then have to ride on the subway. 2 Trains. I can either take the M, N or R train (whichever comes first) from Pacific Ave. to 4th-9th Ave station. From there I have to walk up 5 seperate flights of stairs to the F train. Now I have to take the F train one stop to Smith-9th St.
After I get off the F train, I then have to walk down 4 blocks (usually takes me 10 mins.)

I usually arrive at work at 7:50 every day (barring any problems on the LIRR or subway)

By the time I get to work I am shot! I HATE MY COMMUTE!!

I would drive to work but there is way too much traffic to deal with on the way home. On average it takes an hour and a half to 2 hours to get home. And I only live 35 miles away.

BLAH!!

Damn you Robert Moses,DAMN YOOOOOOOOOU!

I love NYC but the transportation is joke. Robert Moses was too busy destroying neighborhoods so he could build his precious highways and bridges. NYC would have benefitted more if there were more subways and railroads available.

That sucks dude. I have to drive an hour and a half to get to work myself. I live near the city and have to drive 50 miles to get to the outer suburbs. I only wish I could go by train but that would be next to impossible for me. Commuting really is no fun.

In what city do you work?

I dont know if I could handle driving an hour and a half to work everyday. Especially in traffic. you must go crazy!

Chicago area. I live in a suburb (a slum really) called Berwyn just west of the city. I have to travel to a town (not even a suburb) 50 miles north and west of the city. It really sucks how so many jobs have left the city. Now a days you have to go to the burbs to find any kind of work.

I'm only a mile and a half away from work, so I walk there and back.

I work in an industrial area of Brooklyn. Alot of IT jobs are leaving or have left New York City all together. Alot of companies are outsourcing jobs to India leaving many IT people jobless.
So the 2 years I spent studying networking and TCP/IP at college went down the drain. Now I manage a warehouse ironically enough with computer equipment.

There are alot of high paying jobs on Long Island, where I live but I dont qualify for most of them. So I have go get up extra early, commute 1-1 1/2 each way to make a decent amount of money.

I still dont make enough to move out of my parents house. It sucks being 25 and still living at home. :(
