View Full Version : "Psychic Vampires"
Monster 01-07-2003, 12:53 AM Anybody ever hear of this before?
From what I can recall, I believe a psychic vampire does not need blood to survive, but rather psychic energies from other people.
Anyone know any more about this?
TheGreatMonkey 01-07-2003, 01:19 AM Psychic vapire require emotional energies to survive, instead of blood. They tend to be very perseptive of the differant emotions that a person is having due to this, they also know how to cultivate such emotions so that they can feed off of the energies. I'd post an article to support this, but I've yet to see any web site other then my own (will be up soon) to have acurate information.
Kyle Gridley 01-07-2003, 02:52 PM I know that I have known people that would qualify as psychic vampires. The sort of person who seems nice enough at first, but seems to drive everyone else around him into the ground... Sort of the opposite of the "life of the party" person.
PissyPrincess 01-08-2003, 01:24 AM Well I have yet to read or hear about them until today, however thinking back, i think i may know a few of them ... ponder

Thats not the signature of a psychit vampire, they don't nessisary sap your energy, as much as they feed on it. That person is just a downer;)
jillianjiggs 01-08-2003, 12:49 PM The thing is, they can do it unknowingly. Is there a reason you're so interested in them? Feeling drained? You might try to look up hags or hag attacks for more information.
Monster 01-08-2003, 02:58 PM No, not feeling drained. I've been around them before and it hasn't affected me greatly. I was just remembering about an old friend and wondered what the rest of you knew.
Miss Misery 01-08-2003, 07:15 PM I thought they were like the drama queens of the "Vampire world"... they pretty much drain other people of their emotional and mental energy.. or something. *shrug*
TheGreatMonkey 01-09-2003, 12:37 AM Its not the psychic vampires feeding that leaves you feeling drained...you exude these energies anyways whenever you have stong emotions, its the strain of the emotion that leaves you feeling drain, and a psychic vampire knows how to cultavate these emotions to produce the most emount of energy, in other words makes puts you into an emotional state in which the only thing going through your mind would be related to the emotion...however some emotions don't drain you... some actualy energise you. These are a psychic vampires favorite emotions because they don't have to wait for you to recover from the emotion for them to "feed" again.
Griff 01-13-2003, 05:54 PM My experience with them is that they are more like drama queens, in that their daily flat-line is dissatisfying and will go to whatever end (short of actually producing work) to get a big charge out of you, like starting a fight or intense argument in order to feed on your reaction (energy).
Same goes for positive energies- you have to be careful that you don't inadvertantly drain your SO when you're close - make sure its a give/take cycle or things get, well, "wrong" (she's so needy?)
Any good tactics for defense? I usually try to avoid, but when thats unpossible I like to bore, ironically end up feeding on their frustration for a short time until it becomes obvious to them that they've been had, then they cut off and stay far away. (A bitter little taste of your own medicine?) I don't like the leechy feeling, though, and don't want the negative aspects, so give their extra energy back to the house plants on the way out the door or something.
suncrush3r 01-16-2003, 12:41 AM Hmmm my experiance with psychic vamps. They usually are solitary or travel in pairs. Typically they can feed off people in one of 2 ways.
1. skimming off the top. They can usually be seen sitting in dark corners of a rave or wall flowers at a party sucking off free energy of the people.
2. diliberate draining. You walk into a room and all of a sudden you get a really nasty headache. You look around and you see some guy or girl and they seem to be staring you in the eyes and deep into the soul.
I hate to sterotype but usually they wear black. The reason is more of a spiritual rather then a vampiric fashion trend. Black is the color that absorbs light, and white reflects all back at the onlooker (for those of you who do not remember that in science class). Thus it helps their psychie focus on absorbing energy.
There are several ways to mess up their draining attack. Some people are more suspectial to others. A 10 year old kid bouncing off the walls is more "tastie" then a 90 woman who is on her death bed. But like everything it's a matter of preference.
1. Avoid them (easier said then done)
2. True Faith - your true faith in the divine or religion usually can beat them down, it is the equilivent of a robber going after the women with the big purse vs the man wearing a T-shirt that says" guns do not kill people, I do!" It's really how much trouble they want to go though to get your energy
3. Beer or any fermented product - this one is hard to explain, but when you drink and get a slight buzz going on it severs any connection they may have with you. Your energy is so Chaotic that 99.9% do not want to mess with it. It actually ends up draining them.
Some of the stuff I have read in books the other is my personal experiences.

Okay. True Faith only works on real vampires, and only if your faith is pure, and your god exists, and if the vampire doesn't share your faith, if he does you as good as lunch. You have to remember that psychic vampires aren't really vampires they're more like leaches, infact any human can develop they're skills, its difficult but not impossible. However said you can protect yourself by getting drunk, was a hopefull drunk. Alchoholic beverages will make your mind chaotic, and you energy will reflect that, to an extent, but it doesn't make it any harder for a psy vamp to feed, infact its quite the opposite, your more seseptible because any sheilding you might have had is more then likely gone. The only way to protect your self from a psy vamp "attack" is to have strong "shields", which frankly most people couldn't put up if they tried, because it take controll over you energy, which most peope lack. Of caurse these shields have other pleasent byproducts but I wont get into that now.
Monster 01-16-2003, 01:15 AM I just let one of them 'feed' off of me once, strange thing is that when she fed it didn't affect me.
That's another "defense," against a psy vamp: have an abundance of energy. I was totally unphased.
Don't believe me? Ask anyone who's been around me in real life...:|

That said Z, haven't you recently leared how to "feed" also.
Monster 01-16-2003, 02:07 AM Yes. It's the only way I survive, what with my insomnia (take a sip!) and all. I just sample, though. I never take more than a taste from a number of people. Plus, they're actors, they have an abundance of energy to begin with.
It's a most interesting sensation to energize oneself off of another's energy. I fed a bit too much when I first started and took on a personality trait for a short while. Most curious.
Jay13 01-16-2003, 04:56 AM Be careful. You never really know what is going on in their heads and you could get some sour vibes by accident if you know what I mean.
salach leine 01-16-2003, 10:22 PM well... this is an interesting way of putting it, that's for sure. I never felt like a "vampire", nor like I was being... vampirized. But it definitely makes sense. Just one of the many things I take for granted and don't analyze it much because it's a part of me. I live almost exclusively off of human energy. If I get enough, I forget to eat. It's my driving force, which is why I could never live in complete seclusion from others. Raw human emotion, "unedited", is so satisfying.... but sometimes very frightening. Every once in a while I'll get image flashes from another person, and more often than not they're pretty scary, and not something I'd want to really remember. So, again... this is a blessing and a curse. I live for life and I suppose my life is lived upon.... and the world keeps turning.
peace

It's all a matter of taste. Bible beaters do not leave the psychic vamps with a good taste in the mouth. Especially if there are in groups. Sure one could survive off their energy, but who wants squirrl meat when you have have steak? It's an aquirred taste.
Personally Alchol has always worked for me.

Okay I gues I wont argue about the taste of those with "true faith" I'm sure they'd taste pretty bad...
Tell me what kind of drunk are you? Is there a differance in how you act while drunk when around them?
Griff 01-18-2003, 01:36 AM hush, avril. go take an advil.
salach, have you ever tried bungy jumping or any of the other extreme sport-thingies? betcha you'd get a HUGE fix that'd last a long time.
lots of performers i knew were like this, loved the audiences' energy, said they worked best in a "loop", where it was going back and forth. never spent much time on stage myself, bet it would be similar to standing on the field at the superbowl or world cup, kinda explains the mad dash of the crowd at the end of the game.

I am a happy drunk. when a psychc vamp sucks off a drunk it is good energy. To us we may have a decent buzz, to Mr. Psychic Suck Head, it is almosty dizzying. If he doesn't plan on doing anything else that evening, then he might as well as give up the rest of the nite.
A drunk's energy is VERY chaotic, 99.9% sucks rather have their wits about them, not acting like one of the 3 stooges.

If your drunk your probubly not going to notice a psy vamp feeding off of you, and you buzz does not transfer to the psy vamp through your energry. The energy may be "chaotic" but that would only matter untill its been fed upon, once the energy has been added to that of the psy vamp it would cease to be so.
Monster 01-22-2003, 12:37 AM Having fed off of a drunk person (slightly intoxicated, not like drunken stupor drunk), I can tell you that it is possible to filter the drunkenness out of the energy, but I've never met anybody besides me who can do it. And energy itself is chaotic by its very nature, it's that chaos in the energy that energizes the psy-vamp. The drunk energy is actually saturated with the effects of the alcohol and is less chaotic. The overall effect of feeding off of a drunk person is that you don't get enough energy to cover the expenditure needed just to feed. It tires out a psy-vamp not because of the alcohol necessarily, but because the energy is drunk and therefore less active. Doesn't matter what kind of drunk you are, if you're drunk you have less functional capacity then you would sober.
I'm just speaking from my own experiences, so don't take all I say as concrete gospel, but it's true for me.
Jay13 01-23-2003, 04:38 AM Maybe its one of those, if you think it is, it is. thingies...

I'm a pretty damn good skiier. if that counts. But not really any extreme sports, no... most of them involve heights... not my cup of tea.
I get thrills from other things, though.... *grin*
Monster 01-24-2003, 12:40 PM Today: Less than 3 hrs. of sleep, then acting class. During the warm-up exercise, I fed off of all the other people in the room--just a little, like sampling.
I don't need a nap anymore. Shower, yes. Nap, nope.
Wow.
I think I'll go read that nifty post about occum'r Razor.

Dezi Faerie 01-24-2003, 11:11 PM *floats staring at Zach* How do you think I get through most of my days? Why do you think I hung around drama kids? I always was one to "get high" off of others.

It really isn't that hard to get people to feel emotions. And laughter is the strongest medicine... just remember all the stupid comments and the wet suit in the fountain.
