Why is it, People get theirselves involved with people that they know are taken, or they will never have a chance with?

With reasonably attractive girls, it's ego. I'm convinced.

It's not about wanting something you can't have. It's more like "I know that I can have him if I just . . .". Whether it's taking a guy away from another girl or simply "winning" a guy over, I find it's more about ego than anything.

Rarely do I find "so-so" girls pining after someone they can't have. When THEY do, though, it's usually infatuation.

Guys in that boat are basically stupid :D. They're just O/C or something. I find that good looking guys who get shot down by some chick would much rather build their ego up by porking the girl's best friend, sister, or, even better, mom instead of wasting a lot of time chasing chicky-poo down.

Actually, I'm quick to say it's all the girl's fault on this one. Girls who are taken generally have more confidence, and confidence is sexy. My two most significant relationships to date have all begun with (more or less) taking a girl from another guy. Now, I never broke any rules on this. I have at least a modicum of honor. I would just... be there, and before long, they'd dump their guy and come to me.

Another thing: men appreciate unnattainable women more. Joe Generic knows that, if he were somehow able to get together with Aimee Hottie, well, he would treat her like the goddess she is. Prollem is: Aimee knows her last name, and Aimee knows what Joe is thinking, because Joe's a man, and therefore simple. Aimee's willing to slum it for awhile and take Joe for everything he's got. Meanwhile, Joe's just happy she notices him.
