I happened to hear bits and peices of Art Bell's final program. He has announced his retirement and says that he will be leaving Coast to Coast AM. George Nori will be taking over.

I wish Art the best of luck.

He'll still be back occasionally for those special shows, like the ghost to ghost, or when George needs time off. But at least he's retiring on his own terms this time and not because of **** like he had to deal with the last couple of times.

Of course being New Years eve, I missed it, I'm hoping to get a copy of it somehow.

How was it? Did he say anything interesting?

I missed his last show - didn't hear what he was saying. I caught the new guy on the 1st though, can't remember what his name was....George something? Anyhow, all the callers were saying that they were looking forward to at least twelve (?) years of success with him as Art had.

Interesting show---much was entertainment, but some callers got you thinking.

:( what a great show. I assume it is due to his back problems?

well George Noory is a good host and will be very interesting. It is the listeners (the ones that call and send stuff) and his guest that really make the show great :)

I never get to listen to it anymore anyways, I haven't worked nights since Aug and may never again

A Message from George
On his first official night in the "captain's chair," George offered a special message about his connection with Art Bell, telling the listeners that Art had a major role in his hiring and eventual "grooming" to take his place. George described his early interactions with Art. "My connection with Art Bell was almost like…talking to your idol baseball player when you're a kid. Because he truly is a living legend. I've got to tell you he was so supportive, informative and helpful. He pointed out things that he thought I was doing wrong and he pointed out things he thought I was doing right. And he really told me one major thing: 'George, put your own mark on this program. You're going to have lots of people who'll support you, millions of people, and you're going to have some that won't. It doesn't matter. You do what you think is best!'

Speaking directly to Art via the airwaves, George said: "I will do you proud, the best I can, Art. There comes a time in this life wherever you might be that you have an opportunity to work with someone who is literally…like a god in this business. Someone you can look up to and respect. I've had the opportunity and so now, no matter what happens in this broadcasting business for me, I had a chance to work with Art Bell."
