View Full Version : Got a Maxima
Betty 11-12-2001, 12:29 PM And you foreign car bashers can kiss my ass. The Max hauls ass.
Now I just gotta save up $4k for the Stillen supercharger, and I'll be smokin some of your camaros.
92Notch 11-12-2001, 04:37 PM Cool. What year? ... and did you get a stick or auto. Please do not put a big tip and a bunch of stickaz on it. :)
Betty 11-12-2001, 04:51 PM It's a '98. Although I prefer sticks, I went with auto this time. Absolutely no stickaz! I hate those things! Even after my modifications, I refuse to be a rolling billboard. Besides, I prefer a beast in disguise, which is one of the reasons I opted for the Max.
I timed the 0-60 at about 7 1/2 seconds. Stillen claims that their SC will take it down to just under 6 seconds with a quarter mile in 14.4.
Until I can cough up 4 grand though I'm just gonna make some minor changes like the intake and exaust, we'll see how that goes.

why do people find it so difficult to spell Camaro right? The cars been around for 34 years or so, and half the people still spell it wrong, including mulletheads that OWN the car!!!
Wedge 11-13-2001, 09:15 AM I can't spell, you should know that.. :)
Betty 11-13-2001, 10:15 AM Ah, but that's before the new intake, ignition amplifier, exaust, and perhaps nitro.
I don't plan on messing with nitro though. Way beyond my expertise.
ResidentRice 11-13-2001, 10:50 PM Nice cars. Maximas are one of those cars that come great out of the factory. Just to warn you, I've been hearing of some problems with the Stillen kit for the Maxima. You should really check around and talk to some people who have done it first and see what they think about it. And go NOS! Its just so much damn fun to pass up!
Shadowhawk 11-13-2001, 11:29 PM The rediculous thing is they're obsenely hard to kill too... I've had one with 300k come into my old shop for an Emissions Test. Looked like it had been dogged out big time too. Readings were damned near like a new car's on the test!
Don't really care for most of the other Nissan engines too much, but that 3.0L in the Maxima is a really good engine. If I were ever to sink so low as to drive rice, it'd almost certainly have to be a Maxima:D:D
Fordman50 11-14-2001, 06:37 AM I think you may want to save your money on the "ignition amplifier" though. Get yourself a left handed smoke shifter. It will prolly do more for ya ;)

Sounds a little dangerous... I'm afraid of breaking something.
ResidentRice 11-15-2001, 10:38 AM Hehe. I'm just kidding about the NOS, kinda. Don't know shluph about shluph when it comes to Nissans, really. All I know is that the Maxxie's 6 is supposed to be one of the absolute best 6's in the world, competing with Bimmer's M3 6, which happens to be inline, but you get the point. I'm sure most of the guys on this board know a lot more about it than humble little me, but hey, its crazy horsepower gains! But seriously, do you really need NOS in a Maxima? I mean, NOS for fun is all good, but how many times are you gonna want to use it on the streets? And are you really ever going to take it to the 1320?
ResidentRice 11-15-2001, 10:40 AM Alright, asked a friend, referred me to this site. http://www.smg.sphosting.com/nitrous.htm
