Please give a specific example of a so-called awkward situation for us to comment on. As a rule, always try to turn a negative situation into a positive.

Worrying can cause Panic attacks..You could or perhaps not be experiencing one..
What happens when you get nervous..For example:
I get real flushed, feel dizzy, chest feels like it is closing in, tingling of hands..
Or are you simply just butterfly in the stomach nervous?

I don't think this is the middle school butterflys..
I have a pretty steady hand when I am not nervous.. but I shake all over when I get nervous.. usually my chest more than anything.. I get dizzy, hot, and I start to sweat.. my stomach also gets tore up to.. but mostly makes me sick, and sometimes leads to vomitting.. esp. when I eat something and get nervous..
maybe it's stress.. who knows..
I think my perscription that I will hear will be "get some, that cures everything"

I hope people continue with suggestions. Let me make some quick suggestions because I have to go jogging before it gets dark. ;)
Public speaking is tough if you do not like the subject matter or it is not something you are totally familiar with. You just have to love your subject matter and then it is like preaching in that the audience can be there or not and you will speak the same way. Just watch the Emeril Food show or Bob Ross oil painting (on public TV). They love what they do and little experiences will roll out of the back of your memory from time to time to "spice" up what you are expressing as you make a presentation or whatever.
seeing any cop on the road again ever (bad experience)..
I have been pulled over a few times, sometimes for no reason and also have this. No cure I know of except to drive safetly at all times.
talking to the opposite sex.
It depends if you are truly interested in the person and how receptive the person is you. What is great is if the other person shares a passion you have about something. Then the objective is sharing a good time doing something you would do even if the other person wasn't there rather than seeking a good time from the person.
We might have to refer you to Durden for love sickness questions. ;)
