View Full Version : How do you clear your head?
What do you do when ya just need to think, unwind, or whatever.
I go for a drive. Nights like tonight are what it is for. A nice cold/foggy night. Windows down, heater on, music blaring, and driving.
It is great.
What do you do?
SmilingJack 11-03-2001, 03:40 AM I personally sit around in a darkened room with head phones, listening to something soothing or blue like the Cure, Garbage (medication (acoustic version), cup of coffee) or Louis Armstrong -What a wonderful world, among others.
I find that low keyed music helps put things straight.

Exactly man! I LOVE driving PCH at night (Pacific Coast Highway) and going through the canyons. It is more fun in the stang, but the Taurus is nice too, cause it has a moonroof.
During my Junior year of high shcool it was common for me to after hanging out with friends, drive down to PCH, hang out at Zuma for 20-30 minutes, watch the sky, the waves, and then just go home...talk about therapy.
Guitarophile 11-03-2001, 02:45 PM When I've got too much in my head, I just play it all out. If the house is empty, I'll dial my amp up as high as I can handle and just let every last ounce of angst and confusion flow out of my fingers and dissipate on the air. I've since added headphones to my rig, so I can do the same when in the peripheral presence of the mama.
AdamJ 11-03-2001, 05:56 PM Well it depends...
If im pent up on stress or frustrations or feeling worn out I will power on the PS2, put in GT3 and run my twin-turbo Lotus through tracks at 260mph... or I will take my Mini-Cooper and do a big smokey breakstand by holding the e-brake and gas at the same time..
Or I drive the wrong way on the track purposely trying to run people off the road or get into head-ons.
If Im bored and/or in a good mood I like to go for a drive... Sometimes I just love the feeling of being hunkered down in the cockpit of my mustang crusing around twisty farm-lined roads at 70mph...
Othertimes I take the Passport out and remove about half-inch of rubber at various intersections in the Orland area...
Scott 11-03-2001, 06:40 PM I'm with the Big "G" man on this one...
i play my acustic guitar....
or a listen to musicals and sing at the top of my lungs...
or a put on my tap shoes..and tap a bit...(insert laughing here..but i'm not ashamed i tap dance...i am freaking good at it..so blow me! :p )

I go on the computer to forums like this one. If I am in the mood for something more physical, I work out. I also try meditation.

That's cool, you have some awesome roads up there. I used to drive up to Malibu hills alot late at night with my friends. We found some really cool roads that go to the top of some of the hills. There are some really scary cliffs up there and some really spooky looking places. PCH north of Pepperdine is really fun too.
I can't wait to get my car running so I cruise up there again..:o
ChaoticThoughts 11-05-2001, 05:28 AM Well, Im one of the few that can say I dont have enough stress built up to need to unwind. That will change, but for now is good times.
anyhow- music, tea, stretching (or yoga), sex, pot, then sleep. Now thats a good day!
jwreck 11-05-2001, 08:43 PM Depends. Sometimes I play my guitar, sometimes I run. Sometimes I go get good and sloppy drunk. Nothing compares to sex (as long as she's not the one yu're stressed about)
Shadowhawk 11-06-2001, 02:40 AM Well, like alot of people that have posted here, it depends for me also. Driving usually works good if it's simply that I've got alot on my mind. Other than that, it can be anything from meditation to beating the crud out of the heavy bag, depending upon mood and circumstances.
Brian 11-07-2001, 12:10 AM Nothing beats a good, long, intense workout. Then, a few rounds with the punching bag...
