View Full Version : Headaches...
Shadowhawk 11-03-2001, 01:28 AM I've got 1 past and 1 current friend who both suffer from BAD tension headaches/migraines. I tried to do a bit of research here to look for natural remedies w/o much luck.
I know reducing a high carb diet helps, along with relaxation/meditation techniques, but I also know for a fact that I've seen some herbal type natural remedies that are supposed to help prevent or reduce headaches. Darned if I can find the info now though... Anybody else know what they're supposed to be??? I think Ginkgo is one of them(?)....
Snouter 11-03-2001, 01:53 AM Yes, I personally take two 60mg Ginkgo (24% standardized extract) capsules each day to help blood flow to the brain. It is a recommended dosage as long as no blood thinners are being taken.
A headache could be a result of dehydration, coffee, cola, MSG, foods that contain tyramine such as banana, and other allergies or nutritional deficiencies. Things to try are Ginger tea, Peppermint tea, and add 20 drops of skullcap tincture and take 3 times a day. Feverfew is another great herb to check out that should help migraines.
AdamJ 11-03-2001, 07:14 PM Man... I have a headache right now...
200mg of Ibuprofen should clear it up...
If not that, then the FREAKING HUGE STEAK Im about to get at Outback will help... and just incase it doesnt... The Box of Sno-Caps and 142oz Pepsi im gonna get at the movies will lick it.
:) :)
slacker79 02-25-2002, 01:02 PM Good gd, did I have a killer migraine this morning. My head was throbing and I could barely keep my eyes open to drive it hurt so bad. I took about 5 pills and drank a coke and it finally went away. Thank goodness!
The Frog 02-25-2002, 03:57 PM Advil Migraine with a Red Bull chaser.
Works for me.
ChaoticThoughts 02-26-2002, 12:12 AM I've been having killer headaches becuase of this cold. Other than that, I never get them, Im too relaxed or something.
Redfield 02-26-2002, 11:16 AM I usually suffer headaches in the summer, due to allergies. An advil, taken on the onset, helps me.
Allegra 02-26-2002, 02:56 PM Ack. I get really bad headaches -- migranes -- and if I don't catch them quickly enough, there's nothing I can do to get rid of them. I take this really great prescription medication called Maxalt. It makes me feel woozy, high, and like there are a million tiny needles dancing on my face. However, after about a half hour of that, I feel great. If I can't take my prescription (because I need to drive or do something else that requires me to be in a clear state of mind) I try to take Excedrin Migraine AS SOON as I feel one coming on. It doesn't knock it out like Maxalt does, but it helps a lot.
ChaoticThoughts 02-27-2002, 04:39 AM There is that new medication, emitrex, or something, I see commercials for. I hear it works well.
Allegra 02-27-2002, 01:16 PM Imitrex didn't work so well for me...
I have never had bad headache's, but when I start to get one, I take ibuprofen... usualy kills it.
