View Full Version : More on Consoles DaOgre 11-02-2001, 01:33 PM Lets use this new poll system huh? Manu 11-02-2001, 02:09 PM I really like the nifty rhyming ya got going on. :-) DaOgre 11-02-2001, 02:21 PM heh Ax Slinger 11-04-2001, 02:26 AM Consoles suck. When you're done playing games on a computer, you can do other things. With the exception of a few like PS2's, which I hear you can watch DVD on, when you are done playing games on most consoles all you can do is turn them off. AdamJ 11-04-2001, 02:35 AM Incase people didnt already know the XBOX is a basically a Computer with a Celeron Processor, 64Mb RAM, and a 6Gb Hard Drive.... Im just waiting for the 'Black-market' XBOXs to start popping up.. Turbostang 11-13-2001, 03:59 AM Consoles suck. When you're done playing games on a computer, you can do other things. There is just so much more you can do with a computer, and there are some games that just don't translate well to consoles. I have yet to see a decent flight sim for a console system for example. DaOgre 11-13-2001, 05:48 PM And Ive yet to see a decent side fighter a la street fighter for the computer... its a different flavor of gaming when console gaming... And with the out of the box broadband ready xbox, addon for the PS2...it will get interesting... start seeing Counter Strike for the consoles! AdamJ 11-13-2001, 10:25 PM Do you have a source for the P3 reference... ? I can't find my source, or for that matter, any references regarding the cpu in the xbox asides from it being intel made anymore... AdamJ 11-13-2001, 10:26 PM Oh and also, Consoles ARE a different breed of gaming for me. Consoles are what I want to play LOUD full throttle action or fighting on a BIG MFin' TV. PC's are what I play the extra complicated Homeworld game on. Or games were the precision of a monitor are needed etc.. Turbostang 11-14-2001, 12:39 AM And Ive yet to see a decent side fighter a la street fighter for the computer... its a different flavor of gaming when console gaming... That's because you're not looking hard enough. I've seen plenty of platform, scroller, and side fighting games for the PC. In fact, I happen to OWN a PC version of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. I've seen plenty of other famous titles as well, such as all of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2, Evil Dead, Tony Hawks Pro Skater3, Cool Borders, etc... Even then, if there isn't already an emulator for a given game/system, it's usually just a matter of time before someone does. Granted that really would like to see a game like Gran Turismo 3 for the PC (although Motor City online looks really promising), at the same token, for every good one, there are probably 10 I could care less about, like anything Pokemon for example... Besides, with the XBOX essentially being a watered down PC, I would imagine that most of what is released for one will likewise be released for the other with a few minor tweaks. ChaoticThoughts 11-14-2001, 03:37 AM Because I live in washington, I could have showed up for xbox testing. If I wasn't in the middle of classes... Anyhow, here is the main strengths/weakness between computer and consol: Computer- Download free games, play online, play old and new, also use computer for other things. But, you must pay for advances, so you can play the newest games. Gotta have a good 3d card...$$$ Consol- Good selection, all the games work without a problem, easy to use, dont have to worry about filling up a hard drive, *multiple players at home, nice gamepads/ controlers. But its just for gaming, and it costs cash for those games, rarely any burning or free games. DaOgre 11-14-2001, 03:47 PM Well yeah I mean I know those games exsist... my point was Ive yet to see one that really captivates me... I think of the PC as the master of the first person shooter or them strategy games... but I think when your talking about full throttle hardcore button mashing... nothing can really surpass a console... And parties are more fun on consoles than PCs :) hillie16 11-14-2001, 04:07 PM I have both and love them both....I have different games for both, and usually like the console more for gaming. |
