Yes, that's what I'm talking about. Although they(?) usually disappear within a second after being spotted..... they sometimes stay for a short period of time. A question: are these people the kind you can only "see" out of the corner of your eye and disappear when viewed head-on, like when you concentrate hard on them?

I have experienced this, yes. But it's not usually people... mostly animal forms, or forms that I wouldn't be able to identify at all.

I heard about them on Art Bell. whack!

My experience took place at my Grandparents' home. I was walking my sister home and I could have sworn I saw someone lurking about in the shadows. I saw it from the corner of my eye. When I turned to look at it, the shadow moved behind a bush that was once a giant pepper tree. I stood there cold and fixated. Waiting in fear, and anticipation. Hoping, and yet, not; that the person/thing would come out from behind. It never did.

Another time was when I was around the same age and my uncle was staying with our family. I had awoke, for one reason or another, to see who I thought was my uncle walk down the hall. I didn't hear him stumbling about the kitchen, so I went to check on him. No one was there, even though I saw the glimpse of a shadow of a person pass.

I learned later on, of a horrible accident that took place on that property in 1957. A truck full of bracero workers caught fire and the workers who managed to get out died on various parts of the property. Some of them died in the shade of that once giant pepper tree. Spookier still, some of them died near a chicken pen that was later torn down and where 22 years later my parents' house was built.

I have seen them head on. The first time while I worked security at a foundry. I went outside to have a smoke and I saw something moving across the truck yard. It appeared to come from one of the doors and disappeared about twenty feet from the building. There were instances inside the building too.
Another time I was getting into my van (at home) at night and I felt like something was watching me. When I turned to look, it was standing next to my van and was looking in at me. This has happened to me quite a few times but, hasn't happened for about a year. There were a few times when I saw something small (about three feet tall) duck behind a piece of equipment at work(again at the foundry) and when I went around the equipment to look, nothing was there.
It seems that they are prevelent at places where somebody had died.

I too first heard about Shadow people from Art Bells show. I can't say whether I've seen one or not but at night I see things in my peripheral vision sometimes that looks like a person that disappears when I turn to look at them. Not sure on this one..

What have you people been smoking?

I always just figured that it was light and shadow effect playing tricks on my eyes...you know, like a palm frond moving in the wind creating a shadow that moves around n' stuff. Now I'm gonna have to pay attention to that stuff.

I had an experience with them when I was a young child, but since then I haven't.

I'm sure my Shadow People aren't the same as your Shadow People, but I've "seen" them. It wasn't really vision, since it happened during an out-of-body experience, but I sensed awarenesses other than myself during a little trip to the Void. They were "watching" me as I came into myself there, and as soon as they lost interest, I rocketed back. Trippy stuff.

This is pretty weird, just the other day I was telling my friend that I was seeing black silloutes(sp) of people in the corner of my eyes. I usually see them in my room, or in another friends house. Have they just started for some of you, or have you seen them for a while?

I've seen this stuff for as long as I can remember. Some of them are more "powerfull" then the others, however I'm sure that more there a several differant kinds of "shadow people"

I don't know about anybody or anything dying where I saw them... but a lot of people and things die in a lot of different places. You never know.

You guys all seem to be moving up in the psychic world. If I'm not careful, you'll be catching right up with me.

I see them everyday. Here, there, in the park, on the grassy knoll... Of course, my psychiatrist says, "Dammit! I told you to stay on that medication." All my friends seem to think that I'm some really far-out psychic with perhaps too much time on my hands.

To do a little cross-posting here from that other 'Bad dreams' post: I've found that when the Men in Black II come into my bedroom at night wanting me to go for a midnight spin in the jet car, I have to put aluminum foil around my head to get any peace and quiet.

You'd get a bang out of it for sure. That is if I can find any. Can't seem to even find my quarters for the cig machine in basement half the time.

In your cases, though, 206, the circumstance may be a bit different. I'll get out my Ouija board and see if someone is really trying to contact you from our sister anti-matter Universe. It may be a while for my response though, as I will have to wait till the second Blue Moon in a year that has 4 solar eclipses.

Sounds like part of a well-studied class of hallucinations that can occur to perfectly normal people. Audio hallucinations are very common; folks report "hearing" things like thier name being called, and so forth.
Same thing with visual phenomena. Something stimulates a memory center in the brain, which we interpret a a briefly-lived vision of a shadowy figure. Or well-reallized, depending on the degree of stimulation.

During brain surgery, the physician can elicit very clear memories in the patient by electrical stimulation of certain parts of the brain.

These stimulations can occur naturally as well, from a variety of causes.

This is an interesting thread. I believe in the Shadow People, but I think they are demons or something negative. My experience has been in dreams. The first time was when I was really into lucid dreaming, trying to control my dreams. In one dream I was in a room, and trying to change it, when I saw a Shadow person behind a door, just a brief glimpse. It was just a dark shadowy figure, short, I couldn't make out what it was. Someone was with me in the room, and I said to them, what was that? And it was explained to me that I need to be careful when I'm lucid dreaming, because the brain puts out so much energy to do it, and those shadow creatures feed off of the energy!

I've seen them in dreams several times since.

Heard this stuff on Art Bell, very interesting indeed. But haven't seen any shadow people, but do see things that I can't explain. Not sure if it's in my head or something else.

Ok Well when I was 12 years old me and my older bro Shared a room Bunkbed's anyway I seen This black figure Right next to my bed ( thinking it was my brother I started kicking toowards it ( my eyes were close just waiting for my brother to hit me ) but It was not my brother because When I opened My Eye's I realised my brother went to The coast for a basketball tournament and I guess that coulda ben a shawdow person I have had alot of other ecperiances but They seem like nothing

I'm pretty undecided on the issue of ghosts, the paranormal and aliens, but I do realise that our understanding of the world, how it works and what occupies it, is incomplete. So these things might very well exist, and in ten or a hundred years time human and physical science might very well be able to explain what is now seen as 'supernatural phenomena'.

Anyhow, I'm not sure if it's the same thing as a shadow person, if it was a lucid dream or if it was a random brain stimulation, but I have two experiences I would like to share.

Back when I still lived in my parents house, when I was still in primary school I had a very lucid dream (or perhaps it was real, I don't know):

I was lying in my bed, on my back, covers pulled up under my chin. It was morning, and the sun was streaming through the cracks in my curtains, bright and warm. I lay there for a while, not sure if I was awake or dreaming, completely still. After a while I became aware of a presence beside my bed. A tall person, in a heavy coat and fedora hat was standing beside me, the sun and brightness behind him rendering him a dark, and featureless silhouette.

He stood there for a while, watching me, I lay there watching him, and slowly he started to bend down towards me, and gave me a kiss on my forehead. He dissapeared then and I woke up, the morning I woke to though was exactly the same, bright and sunny morning in my dream.

The second experience I had was much later, I still stayed in my parents house, but I had moved to a room downstairs. I was in my second year of varsity.

My bed was in an alcove underneath a wide set of old, teak windows. I was lying on my side with my back the the wall of the alcove, slowly drifting to sleep.

As I was lying there, in that half asleep half awake state, I was suddenly scared. A chilling thought and image had gripped my mind; there was a dark hand coming out of the wall behind me, reaching out to touch me. I could see it in my mind, and I knew it was going to happen. I couldn't move, and every second I could see in my minds eye that out-streched hand getting closer and closer until it touched me and I literally convulsed out of bed onto the floor.

Never have I experienced something so terrifying, my heart was beating fast and loud, I was covered in that hot/cold sweat and I could still feel a pressure/tingling where the finger touched my back. I have also never experienced anything like that again, thank goodness, once was enough, and I'll never forget it.
