If you haven't already heard, SHGL will be closing its doors. Nationally, and even internationally reknowned for producing champions, SHGL has set the American standard for excellence in competitive gaming for many years. While perhaps best known for excellence in fighting games, SHGL was a truly comprehensive arcade, boasting world-class talents on a variety of titles, from driving to dancing games, and everywhere in between. Top notch conditions were maintained by an involved, responsive management, which attracted a large and devoted group of regulars (even local tournaments often drawing 100+ people), many of whom also became good friends. SHGL truly raised the bar in all titles, and it's legacy extends from known national champions like Alex Valle right down to a hundred guys you'll never hear of, but all of whom played at an incredibly high level. It's been a good run. It will be missed. RIP Southern Hills Golfland.

Most of you guys prob don't know about the place but this was the Mecca of arcades! A place for the international DDR competitions and a whole slew of others. Almost every game that was worth anything held it's major tournies here, even tekken. It's sad to see it go. Hope the make another one sometime soon.

*gives ten secs. of silence*

The closest thing I ever got to an arcade was in the bowling alley. Never been into a real arcade, never wanted to.

Yo, Manu. Remember when we were young and stupid and spent around 30 bucks each trying to beat T2 at the TO Mall? That was a god-forsaken day.

It looks like cafes are taking over for arcades. some friends of mine go to one that has pcs and consols, large tvs and so on. Its only $4/hour. It sounds like battlefield 1942 is the most popular there right now.
