I have this Canon EOS 888 that was given to me. I have a friend that wants to buy it, but I have no clue as to what it is worth. I think I looked up some info on them and they were only available in China or something like that and retailed for $398, but I have no clue as to the dates on that info.

Honestly, it is used..so you are not going to get full value for it..Although in good condition..I mean I would not pay $400 when I could go get a brand new one for that.. You see??

The best thing for you to do..Is call for example Southern Camera, they buy used Cam's. see how much they would be willing to pay for it..Then jack that price up a bit..
