View Full Version : Ashcroft:A Protestor of All OUR RIGHTS HA
Proletarian 11-18-2002, 03:37 PM The United States has broad authority to use wiretaps and other surveillance techniques to hunt for suspected terrorists, a federal appeals court panel ruled Monday.
Yes, one more time our great Attorney General Mr. Ashcroft has managed to infringe on our rights. His Majesty Attorney General Ashcroft has been pursueing for these new acts since 9/11 and now he has finally got his dream-come-true decision.
The special court that has been created to look at the spy courts decision concerning the Patriot Act. The panel was supposed to be un-biased, but many think that it was severly slanted by the Bush Regime. Well one more thing we have to be careful of, our telephone conversations.
Monster 11-18-2002, 03:49 PM As I said when the Patriot Act was still a bill...
PATRIOT ACT = ALIEN AND SEDITION ACTS!
Prove me wrong. C'mon, I dare ya.

All of the articles just say 'broad powers.' WHAT are the broad powers?
But yes, I feel The Bush admin has been taking away personal liberties.
CYLLON 11-18-2002, 07:28 PM "How can we stop the terrorists from using our freedoms against us?"
Here's the answer. You won't like it, but . The ONLY way to stop terrorists from using our freedoms against us is to curtail or eliminate those freedoms. There is no other way. It goes with the territory, folks. Freedom has costs. If you want to be able to move through this country freely you are going to have to accept the fact that people with evil intent will also be free to move about the country freely.
We are fighting to preserve our way of life. Freedom is our way of life. If we're going to give it up in the effort ... why make the effort at all?
CYLLON 11-18-2002, 07:40 PM Ignoring the 4th amendment is definately broad powers.
The court just added this bit:

Monster 11-18-2002, 11:00 PM I would like you all to listen to George Carlin material. He has said for a long time that the American people will always be willing to trade personal liberties for the illusion of security.
That's all it is, scared pussy white men who want the illusion of security.
And I soooo hope the Patriot Act is repealed. It's evil, evil evil evil evil!
ChaoticThoughts 11-19-2002, 03:35 AM Stupid people get what they deserve. Too bad I live around a mass majority of idiots.

Which would never happen. The Government would never surrender such power it worked so hard to establish. The more power you give the government the less its willing to give up. The government does not care what citizens think. If they did do you think we would have so many drug laws?

Good point. Regardless of the causes, the USA and the world are feeling the effects of radical Muslims. It is the Muslims who are infringing on the freedom of people around the world.

Is your position that we should obtain political ideology from that comedian? I saw him a few weeks ago on the tube and he has completely lost whatever humor he had. It was embarrassing to watch. He seemed pathetic and bitter. He was indeed funny in the 1970's, and his comedy act was funny back then also. ;)
Proletarian 11-19-2002, 03:11 PM I agree tottaly with you Criminal. We have a problem right now in America. Its the problem that our politicians are corrupted by independent groups. On both sides of the aisle. We need the people to speak up and in a micro way perform a revolution. We need to send forth people to replace old ones who are corrupted. We need laws that allow us to say hey we dont like these ppl out iwth them. Also our media needs to tell us aobut what the government is doing. There has been no outcry aboutthe revoking of rights, becuase it hasnt been explained, in a non biased way, to the general public.

Correct. And to many gun laws, but thast another thread.
"Homeland Security was a done deal. Then the Republicans got stupid ? or ambitious ? and started adding provisions. They thought that the voters had given them some grand mandate to legislate almost any outrage they desired ? so long as they could make some case for protecting our precious homeland.
At the last minute the Republicans added a provision protecting vaccine manufacturers from trial attorneys. Now, standing alone, that protection is a good thing. The Democrats, though, have risen to the challenge and are acting to protect their trial attorney pals ? and, oddly enough, we may all be the better off for it.
You do know, don?t you, that there is not one single member of congress ? neither Congressman nor Senator --- who has read the entire Homeland Security Bill. Don?t believe me? Make the call. Ask your congressmen if he has read the bill ? all of it.
Republican, Libertarian, Democrat. We all care about our privacy. We are now being told that our country cannot fight terrorism while protecting the privacy of our citizens. We fought two world wars and defeated the world communist movement, but we can?t fight the Islamic Jihad without the government knowing each and every purchase you make with your credit card?
A few years ago Americans, alerted by talk radio, rose up and killed a Clinton Administration proposal known as ?Know your Customer. Under that program all financial institutions would be required to build a profile on every customer based on their economic activities. Then, if the customer deviates from that profile by making more deposits than usual, or by writing some unusual checks, the financial institution would have to notify the federal government.
Well .. this Homeland Security Bill is a ?Know Your Customer? program that eliminates the middleman. The government will simply collect and interpret that information itself and make its own determination as to when you start to look a bit odd or suspicious."
