I went out and bought a portable MP3 player on Tuesday. Ihad a $75 gift card to Best Buy so I thought I would spend another $75 for something to listen to. I'm taking a trip back East next week so I don't want to be bored. http://discussanything.com/Ubb/wink.gif
While I was there I saw 3 different types of Mp3 players:
32 meg palm sized $160
64 meg palm sized $200
128 Intel (1" wide x 3") $300
6gb Creative Labs, Discman sized $300
CD/Mp3 player $160
I first wanted a small mp3 player. I thought it would be cool to have a real tiny player that I could fit into my pocket. But I got to thinking.... "For a 64 meg card, I can only fit a few Mp3's on there at good quality." The 64 meg card could take 2 hours of music, but that would be at a reduced quality. Why would I do that?
If I had the money I would buy the Creative Labs NOMAD 6gb MP3 player. Its virtually a hard drive with 6gb of storage. Why buy the Intel 128meg MP3 player when you can get 6gb of storage for the same price?
Unfortunately I could onyl spend abotu $150 so I went with the RIOvolt CD/Mp3 player. I put 178 mp3's out of my collection of 200 on one 700mb CD. I created directies and sub directories on the CD to help break of the collection so I can listen to what style of music I want. Opposed to having a CD for each type of music.
The RioVolt has a 120 second Anti-Skip buffer so if reads 2 minutes ahead, which takes about 15 seconds, and then stops the CD from spinning. This alots for a 12 hour battery life on 2 AA batteries. The RioVolt has a great backlit LCD display and has a in-line remote control on the headphones. It even comes with a holster that attaches to your belt so you can walk around without having to hold the Player or put it in a backpack.
One of best $150 purchases I have made.
