I'm a big RE fan and I haven't been able to find any reviews. Only news that it's delayed to mid-November.

REVIEW
Resident Evil 0
General/Summary: Since I'm such a diehard RE fan, I managed to pick up a Japanese version of Biohazard 0. And I love it! LOVE IT! Can stop playing. As I speak I play this game. I can read Japanese, and I can still tell you that this has a great story, great graphics, great sound, great everything! My personal favorite Biohazard yet. Capcom did a fine job as always, and this one, along with Metroid Prime, will convince people to but a Gamecube, and a steep increase is expected in sales.
Gameplay: Old school Resident Evil with a twist. Now, you have two characters to control, both of which must stay alive for the game to progress. The first is Rebecca Chambers, the young medic you meet in several RE games. The other is Billy Coen, decribed as, "A mysterious drifter." If both characters are in the same room and none of them are being attacked, a item switch can be preformed. This is very useful in many situations. I like keeping a person safe in a room, transfering their weapons to the other player, then letting that player go out and kill some zombies. When that character comes back, the other will go. Making stratagies like this can make or break your game. And of course, this is one of the scariest games ever to hit a screen, and I've screamed out loud many times while playing. And thats something, as I don't scare easy.
Graphics: The best. Thats it. The best. The character models are stunningly realistic. The backgrounds are so real you think you could go out and touch them. The backgrounds move in certain cases now, which is great. The ATI Gekko chip really gives exploits the power of the Gamecube. The zombies are horrifing, and their realistic look gives are real thrill. I've been killed many times just because I was looking at the graphics of the game, and I would just stare at the zombies because the visuels were so amazing. Resident Evil 0 has the best graphics of any game ever made.
Sound: Again great. The music isn't always there, but when it is, it is used at the exact right moment. A door rattles, and a high pitched noise sets the suspence. You continue to walk, hearing the difference from the carpet sound of footsteps to hardwood. Suddenly a zombie bashes through the door! A very scary music echoes through the halls! That was just an example of the great music in the game. The weapons, enemies and voice acting are also flawless, perfect in every aspect. I love them.

DJ NoDoz 11-12-2002, 05:40 PM Preview on the American Release:
Resident Evil 0
Resident Evil was one fantastic but hard game. The house was haunted with zombies, hunters, demon dogs and those damn killer plants. But, now, Capcom have decided decisively that we must step back into time and suck us into Resident Evil Zero.
Thankfully there have been some major changes as Capcom love re-using the same old Resi engine. This has to be Capcom's biggest move forward after all those Onimushas, Resident Evils and Devil May Cry. Yet they have only slightly tweaked the gameplay. The change is actually due to the change between the two characters leading to a whole new dynamic Resident Evil game.
At the beginning Barry and Rebecca have different adventures but they are actually in the same whole one place on a train. They start of in different parts of the train and they can even swap items using a dumb-waiter (the little lift, not a tip greedy buffoon with a tray). Thus, you have to ensure that the right people have the right stuff in the right place. They do however, end up the together, this is where the fun begins. However, it would only logical to control one character at a time but you can order the other character, be it Barry or Rebecca, to follow you about. Fortunately you don't have to protect them as they can take care of themselves as they obviously have their own gun otherwise they would dead meat by now. Once you have decided who will follow, you can decide when the following character to shoot allowing some twin gun action. The AI character's shots are always on target which is of course very useful if you are like me. With this system you can also help out a mate by blasting zombies that are just ready to eat you like Hannibal Lecter.
The inventory screen is a little different now as they now show both characters' details. Here you can find Partner options and you can play around with tem to suit the situation you are in. You can even swap items between the two inventories by using a cursor. Remember those chests in Resident Evil which allowed you to place items as you could hold only six, there's none of them anymore so you'll have to place them on the floor if you want to carry more items and also take a note on where you put it because it may be important further on in the game.
The visuals are once again exceptional. The pre-rendered graphics was obviously very popular with Resident Evil and made eyes water with delight. The downside is the fact that some objects are not interactive and just sit there. The rooms and places are much narrow and smaller making a very claustrophobic feel, and with a bonus- more zombies than ever instead of speed demon zombies having a massive appetite for a human brain. This however does have its bad points, the zombie are so close to you in one small room that they are right in your face. Also, since there maybe two characters in a compact room, one character may get in the way of tight spaces. They also don't always help out when there's a dog biting your face off, for example. Also, the Defence and 180 degrees C-stick turn have vanished making moving with the iffy controls even harder. It will get taking used to.
Apart from these somewhat minor flaws, Resident Evil Zero is looking better and better. It has been rumoured that this game is one tough cookie even harder than the original damn that's HARD. However, Resident Evil Zero seems tastier than a cookie.
