Im thinking about getting one, he said his was a 40 series i know there is also a 60 series (if im making no sence please tell me i have no clue of the lingo)
you mean like RC planes or just models you put on your bookshelf?
Dragon WIngs and Jet-X seem to be popular. One of the guys I work with collects them. I am thinking about buying some myself

The easiest way to get info, is to go down to your neighborhood hoby store, you'll find experts there, and catalouges. Its a very expensive hobby though.

Yes, find a Rider's Hobbies or other equivalent hobby store. Go to your local (fully stocked) bookstore , i.e. Borders and get a copy of Model Airplane News (I think it is) and just read through the whole thing. It's just like 5.0 mag, there are articles then a bunch of ads. Also, www.towerhobbies.com is a good source for equipment.
You'll start with a .40 sized trainer. It's not the most exciting, but compare an R/C plane to an R/C car. What happens when you loose control of the car, or something distracts you? You just hit the brakes. In an airplane, you might loose $300. The trainer literaly "trains" you to deal with different situations and it's easy to talk off and land with.
There are some trainers that are tougher than the older balsa/paper planes. THey don't look as good, but if you do crash it you can just pick it up and keep flying.
BTW - the .40 or .60 is the engine size in cc's. .40 is average, .60 is large and .20 is small.

I like R/C planes, but I have a hard time as it is finding time and space to drive my R/C truck. It will be even more difficult to fly a plane.
The coolest R/C plane I have seen was a model F-16 with a .40 driving an internal prop. Looked just like a jet, flew like a jet..
