I love hunting for deer during rifle season (the Sat after thanksgiving for two weeks). I was out in my stand two weekends ago ML hunting (antler less only) and saw a monster buck..... I've never taken an Antlered deer before (shot plenty of does / BB’s though). It'd be cool to see the buck again when I have either my .30-06 or my .45-70 in my hands. Notchie would be busy making some jerky for a few days :) ....yummy.

They have deer season in DC?

It's archery season here right now. Some hunter jumped a monster 8 point that jumped right in front of me the other day. It was nice. I liked it. I watched it for a while and just thought....

"What an easy shot." :D

I live in MD ... near Baltimore (Ft. Meade) aera. (it's also near DC). Bow season has been in since about 9/15 .... Rifle is for only two weeks right after thanksgiving. I do not hunt much with the bow, but I like to hunt with the rifle (they die right away with the rifle ..... I like that better)

You Easterners - always exaggerating the size of those bucks. On the "proper" (west) side of the Mississippi River that would be a four - pointer. LOL.

In the West, we only count one side - therefore an "eight point' buck in the East is a "four point" buck in the West.

On my scale - I've never seen an 8 pointer - the biggest I've seen was seven - and he was nontypical and a little freaky looking.

Whelp, I didn't see **** on saturday. I'm going back down Weds night to hunt through Saturday. Maybe it had something to do with all the *******s riding their four-wheelers through the woods on Friday (I hunt gun club property) .... I thought it was a freaking off road version of gran turismo or something... stupid inbread dickheads.

Bah! My buddy whom I work with shot an 11 point this archery season. We count all of the points. I suppose you'd call that a 5 1/2 point out west though. :D

Colorado Mulies are big in body. Around here 4x4s are common and if you go about an hour west the big boys live near timberline. It's all draw here. I got denied my doe tag, but they have left over tags and over the counter Elk available in July.

hook me up with a tag, buddy! :) I'd love to do some elk hunting.

(actually I'd really like to go hog hunting ... there aren't any places to do that around here.... Maryland)

I didn't know that you could get over the counter Elk tags anywhere in JULY. Are they bull or cow tags? Seems like the bulls would still be scraping the velvet off their antlers. Either way, Elk hunting in July would just be, well...weird.
