The mystery of the big bang took on a whole different meaning for some Central Florida residents spooked by a thunderous boom Thursday.

It was probably a classified aircraft that the military disavows. Pensacola (and Florida in general) have had their share of UFO phenomena.

I'm gonna guess redfield is right. Every time I've ever heard a huge window rattling boom it's a plane goin faster than sound. No biggie.

Either it's as Redfield said (heck, I've had the Shuttle come in on a different course back to Kennedy and it made us think the AFB blew up it was so loud) or it might have been a close-pass meteor, although I'd think someone would have seen it passing through the mid-atmosphere.
