Who thinks the Wizards will have Mike slamming baskets??? How do you all feel about it? The Comentator (forgot his name) said it was sad that mike couldnt be happy at this stage of his life without lacing up. He did hope that it would help with the 35% drop in viewership of the NBA.

I think Mike is definitely comming back and that can't be bad for the NBA. Michael is to the NBA what Tiger is to the PGA, absolutely everything. I think Mike can still play. Karl Malone had a hell of a season last year and he is 38 so why wouldn't the greatest basketball player of all time not be able to get it done at 38? The Wizards will be in the playoffs this year. If Mike stays healthy the Wizards will get a ring. Mike would accept nothing less than a title. I'm pumped about it.

In a way, I hope he does come back. I mean, he's got a great image that a diverse audience can identify with. He REALLY helped bridge the NBA over to EVERYONE, and no one has been able to step into his shoes either in ability or "market"-ability.
The NBA is hurting for a LOT of reasons, though. The bloody ticket prices are WAY out of line, plus you've got alternative types of entertainment now.
Also, the NBA basketball isn't a "clean" game, anymore. I mean, it used to be the NFL was the place for "bad boys" and all, but the NBA had, oh, I don't know, more "classy" players. I know there were plenty of Curt Rambis's and all, but I think back to Dr. J and Pistol Pete . . . Jabbar . . . Magic . . . some of those guys. The new 18 year old, tattooed thug (black or white!) getting into beer brawls and beating their wives/girlfriends/whatevers just doesn't cut it, anymore. No one is interested (around here, anyway). It's hard to get excited about it.
It looks like Memphis will be getting the Grizzlies . . . which will be another pitiful failure. Memphis couldn't/wouldn't support Hooters' girls tag team wrestling with baby oil if they gave the tickets away free. There's NO WAY the NBA is going to pack in the fans.
Look how far the NBA has slid in the past 5 years . . . they've GOT to do something.

Yes, I have heard that rumor swirling around.
Apparently, him watching Mario Lemieux come out of retirement to play hockey again..and be the best again, lit a fire in his belly again. He is part owner of the Wash Capitals and Mario is the owner of the Pit Penguins, they both love golf, and are truly exceptional athletes...Theyre pretty good friends apparently. I know they have done a lot of talking since Lemieux's return.
I say good for him. He is a class guy, unlike most of the thugs in the NBA.
