View Full Version : RPG Rules & Off-Topic Discussions
AdamJ 11-04-2002, 10:14 PM This is the thread for all off topic discussion and questions about what is going on in the RPG threads.
There are currently two RPG threads active:
Muder-Mystery RPG (http://www.discussanything.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17500)
Fantasy RPG (http://www.discussanything.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17660)
-----------------------------------------------
First off, rules:
1) No player can speak, react, or move for another player
2) No player can kill another player. Players may kill themselves, allow themselves to die, or leave the scene, but that's all. *
3) No user can control more than one character.
4) Your character must react to preceding actions involving them, i.e. if you're shot you must react, even if you regenerate the wound.
5) In a non-fantasy thread, do not introduce fantastic characters. This thread is a reality-based murder-mystery, no magical creatures, powers, et cetera. Play in the world the thread-starter creates. Exceptions for reality-based threads include psychics, clairvoyants, etc., but only because you can find those on Hollywood Blvd.
* The thread starter (in this case Stage Monster) is the only player in the story who can kill other characters without their consent. It's essentially a "ban" from the thread, and will only happen after warnings, and only if the character detracts from the story instead of adding to it.
Monster 11-04-2002, 11:47 PM Thanks Adam, this'll help a lot.

actually...sorta...
i'm just moving the story along..
the ranger is going into the cabin to call for help....
and he finds out that he cant :)
TheGreatMonkey 11-06-2002, 02:24 PM Scott, I was under the Impression that he was headed to the Cabin that me and Zach, and the Actingbugsattack are in/at. why his radio would be there I don't know.
Monster 11-06-2002, 03:17 PM Well, watch and you'll find out, I suspect.
I need to update my character, I'm gonna go do that.
peace

Scott 11-06-2002, 08:53 PM he said the cabin...he could be talking about his ranger station..
TheGreatMonkey 11-07-2002, 04:47 AM True, but normaly in an RPG like this if you make refurance to something (especialy when he heard me yelling) it normaly means the thing in question. Argueing Semantics is fun:D (if you point out my poor spelling you going to taste frying pan)
Rayney 11-07-2002, 07:11 AM Ohhhhhhhh! I wanna play,Im playing!
Just for the record Im going to be a Witch...shaddap, its what I know.
I have no idea what Im doing - soon to be evidenced in the Fantasy RPG.
Miss Misery 11-08-2002, 06:12 PM No Rayney! Don't go to the dark side!!!! ...oh wait, too late! :D
...RPG.... thread... on DA... *sigh*
*shakes head*
Monster 11-08-2002, 06:29 PM New rule: Any blank left in a storyline of a character may be filled in by any active user who can realistically place him/herself into a place where it would logically be answered.
Example: ÆSiR didn't say what happened to him when he faced off against the elemental in the fantasy RPG thread, so I filled in the blank myself when my character got there and was able to look at his character.
And Rayne, it doesn't matter if you know what you're doing or not. So long as it makes sense to you, and it follows the rules, it'll be fine. Make up your powers as you go along and you'll still be well within the limits. If you have any questions, tho, feel free to PM or IM myself or TheGreatMonkey.

Monster 11-08-2002, 07:10 PM A friend of mine pointed something out to me about the Murder-Mystery RPG thread, and I realized that it's become like a Pinter play.
How odd.
TheGreatMonkey 11-10-2002, 03:53 AM Okay, since nobody has taken over the part of the Elemental, and for many of the charactors involved in RPG are going to hit a dead end, The part of the Elemental is now a NPC (non player charactor), in other words, any player involved in the confrontation can move for him, alowing us to move on with the RPG, if anybody decides they want to take the part PM me, and I'll let you take over.
TheGreatMonkey 11-12-2002, 02:06 PM okay, common guys, I can't be the only one to post in the Fantasy RPG.

Sorry I'm stuck. Monk boy is going to leave you guys to melt and go have another drink.
I tried to drag your asses from the fray so that we could end up teaming up to go on an adventure meeting new and interesting people in order to finally end the Elemental God. However your going and trying to kill it right away :)

yeah but I don't know if I'm going to win....we really need somebody to play the elemental guy....this just isn't any fun withough it being a real person.
Monster 11-12-2002, 04:34 PM I cannot stress how important it is in RPGs to READ THE POSTS CAREFULLY!!!
Take note of each detail, each character movement, who's in front of whom, who has what in their hands and on their person, and above all WHAT THEY'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF DOING!
TGM, NoDoz, and ÆSiR have all neglected different details in the Fantasy RPG thread, and it's screwed with the story. Pay attention to your posts, people!
--Zach (RPG Overlord)
TheGreatMonkey 11-13-2002, 08:34 PM I would like to point out that Zach is an idiot:D
Monster 11-15-2002, 10:18 PM I could report that post, you know....schmuck.
But what I wanted to say was that everybody in the RPGs is doing a really good job of involving the other characters in the storyline and not creating individual sub-storylines. Good job, folks.
TheGreatMonkey 12-11-2002, 02:11 AM Alrighty boys and girls lets not let the RPG's die. We still need somebody to play the elemental in the Fantasy RPG. and the Murder Mystery RPG just needs charactors in general.
Monster 01-02-2003, 07:14 PM YOU PEOPLE TAKE TOO DAMN LONG TO GET WHERE YOU'RE GOING!!!
Rrrg.
TheGreatMonkey 01-03-2003, 03:56 PM Aesir theres one little problem with you post, I'm not driving a shuttle I'm driving a car.
Monster 01-03-2003, 10:53 PM Does it matter? He just died. Unless he chooses to revive his character, he now has the option of creating a totally new character CLOSER TO THE TRANSPORT SHUTTLE should he so desire...

Oh... car... shuttle... I got confused.
Come on... he was a drunk old man... waht you expect.
I'm dead.

Monster 01-11-2003, 08:52 PM Just out of curiousity, NoDoz, what exactly have you enabled your character to do? I may be alone here, but it seems as tho there's no set rules that you're running by, and one of the rules of the thread was a limitation of powers...
Monster 01-15-2003, 11:20 PM With Rayne's departure for an indetermined length, NoDoz, it may behoove you to move on independently. When she returns, should she choose to return to this thread, she can catch up or create a new character. Meanby, don't get yourself trapped.
That is all.
