Now the never ending question. Which is Better the White Wolf Games or D&D.

Now im a fan of the WW games because in theory they present a game where your meant to explore more than the hack, slash and treasure collection that many associate with D&D.

But it seems despite this most WW games turn into how can my supernatural kill more and more things in badass ways. And in the case of our local resident nate, D&D can be run with the intrigue as well, not just the monster slaying and treasure colection.

But putting GM's and players aside Which World and system do you feel is better designed?

I think you hit on it when you expressed the desire to have "more". It seems to me that D&D became a power-trip for many gamers i.e. how many magical items and trophies can I put on the wall (hey, that's fine!). WW seems to be geared more towards stylish and, honestly, impractical combat (did I SAY THAT??).

To me, it's still all run by the GM, and he/she/it can determine direction. Of course, the players may not like what's going on and leave the game regardless.

100% that is what it comes down to.

DnD used to be hack and slash, but we got a good GM and as we 'matured' so did our playing style. A huge focus on story, adventure, and less combat. (though a nice scrape is always good).

White Wolf from the get go puts the emphasis on story. (i.e a Storyteller and NOT a game master) The GM isn't just a rules monger that directs the PCs, he/she is trying to/suppose to weave a story.

I think the very simple D10 system helps that immensely...
