View Full Version : That silver moon
suncrush3r 09-27-2001, 07:43 AM I have the pleasure (note scarcism) to work with people who believe that man NEVER landed on the moon, and it was all just a big hoax. Thanx to that FOX special (from the makers of who wants to marry a Millionaire) "Moon Landing Fact or Fiction?" we have the re-newed question (even though it was some time ago):
Did America really land on the moon in 1969?

"Ultimately all hominids came from Africa, and therefore everyone in America should simply check the box next to 'African-American.' My maternal grandmother was German and my maternal grandfather was Greek. The next time I fill out one of those forms I am going to check 'Other' and write in the truth about my racial and cultural heritage: 'African-Greek-German-American.' And proud of it."

Shadowhawk 09-27-2001, 11:45 PM Alot of the "proof" against the Moon landings can be dispelled with simple logic. I've heard some of the evidence argued both ways. The main one I remember though was that it had to have been conducted on some stage because there were multiple shadows from things.
The problem there is that the Moon, like the Earth has TWO sources of light. The sun is the first obviously http://discussanything.com/Ubb/biggrin.gif However, just like the Moon reflects sunlight onto the Earth, the Earth also reflects light onto the surface of the Moon. Being a bigger object, the Earth reflects more light though, enough that it's visible during the Lunar 'daytime'.
Unfortunately, it's been so long since I discussed this one, I've forgotten most of the other arguements... Anyone else wanna dispell some of the other pro-hoax arguements?

suncrush3r 09-28-2001, 12:09 AM I can't remeber the pro-hoax disclaimers, but:
1. The first bit of actual evidence brought up is the lack of stars in the pictures taken by the Apollo astronauts from the surface of the Moon. Without air, the sky is black, so where are the stars?
2.The program talks about the movie ``Capricorn 1'', an entertaining if ultimately silly movie about how NASA must fake a manned Mars expedition. The program says ``The Apollo footage [from the surface of the Moon] is strikingly similar to the scenes in ``Capricorn 1''.
3.In the pictures taken of the lunar lander by the astronauts, the TV show continues, there is no blast crater. A rocket capable of landing on the Moon should have burned out a huge crater on the surface, yet there is nothing there.
4.The next argument presented on the show deals with the lunar dust. As the lander descended, we clearly see dust getting blown away by the rocket. The exhaust should have blown all the dust away, yet we can clearly see the astronauts' footprints in the dust mere meters from the lander. Obviously, when NASA faked this they messed it up
5.The next evidence also involves pictures. In all the pictures taken by the astronauts, the shadows are not black. Objects in shadow can be seen, sometimes fairly clearly, including a plaque on the side of the lander that can be read easily. If the Sun is the only source of light on the Moon, the HBs say, and there is no air to scatter that light, shadows should be utterly black.
6.Ralph Rene, a self-proclaimed physicist, claims that the astronauts shifting in the cabin would change the center of mass, throwing the lunar lander off balance. They couldn't compensate for this, which would have crashed the lander. Thus, the landing was faked.
There are others, but that is all i recall att.

To address the issues of the stars, the shutter speed was set VERY VERY fast so they could get pictures on the moon. The stars, compared to the two light sources (earth and the sun) were nothing. In some pictures labeled as deliberately set with long exposures, you do indeed see some stars.
(For reference, the Earth on the moon is almost as bright as the sun is to us)
This is a great hoax debunking site. They cover it all. http://www.lunaranomalies.com/fake-moon.htm http://www.lunaranomalies.com/fake-moon2.htm

this has always been one of my fav sites. I got it off CNN. they also debunk aloty of the movies out there too.
Personly I never believed anything that comes form FOX. One of the few fact shows, they do well is America's Most Wanted.

ChaoticThoughts 09-29-2001, 01:41 AM that show was somewhat conviencing, but I still think we landed.
But, the WORST special i saw on fox was "When cars attack!" that was sooo bad.
They claimed the cars have a device that can take control of the car, but if you remove it, the car will not work. And then they collected a bunch of drunk drivers and people running from cops for clips for it.

D Durden 10-04-2001, 06:46 PM Here's what did it for me . . . and this COULDN'T be faked . . .
Watch the dune buggy drive . . . notice how the dirt goes up and then back down. There is NO resistance from the atmosphere . . . none. Also, if you graph the trajectory, the particles fall in conjuction with angular velocity of the wheel AND gravitational pull of the moon. No matter what, gravity is inescapable and constant on the Earth.
That alone says they were there.
