Shadowhawk 10-27-2002, 08:50 PM And while we're at it... Deja Vu; The feeling you've seen this FORUM somewhere before. :) lily 10-27-2002, 09:46 PM I get that a lot too.... I have some thoughts on what it might actually be, but it's hard to explain. Plus, it sounds a little weird. :o Lateralis 10-27-2002, 09:48 PM I heard Deja Vu is where information goes to the wrong part of your brain and makes you think you've seen it before. *shrug* Kraw 10-27-2002, 10:38 PM Originally posted by Prometheus And while we're at it... I used to just post it in S&T or Debates Manu 10-27-2002, 10:42 PM Originally posted by Kraw kinda like cars and politics? Or any other discussion forum I guess? In terms of discussion, few forums are ACTUALLY original now. oh well, I am glad we have a seperate place for this.. I used to just post it in S&T or Debates Or personal health, wellness, and spirituality, or the lounge. So it just makes sense to have a forum dedicated. We've been wanting to do it for a while, and in fact, PH/wellness was initially 3 forums, that we consolodated and are now REseparating, cause traffic deems it is time. Redfield 10-27-2002, 11:55 PM Originally posted by Prometheus "The feeling you've seen this somewhere before".... Didn't you just say that? I believe Deja Vu to be a glitch in the Matrix. :) Monster 10-28-2002, 12:14 AM I think that some deja vu is the misdirected information, but with some people (like me) it's prescient knowledge. I remembered a number of dreams, talked with people about them or wrote them down, and then they happened. Everything from what I was thinking at a specific moment to notes in my Geometry class freshman year of high school to kissing my girlfriend once. It just sorta...happens. Manu 10-28-2002, 05:24 AM I get feelings of Deja Vu sometimes. Quite often recently. Usually it deals with situations that happen, feel familiar, and then I think I've dreamt about them. Grizzly 10-28-2002, 08:57 AM Originally posted by Prometheus "The feeling you've seen this somewhere before".... Or how about 'Vuja De' that feeling you have never been here before ;) Baboon 10-28-2002, 12:13 PM I've experienced deja vu plenty of times. It's freaky, but in a very cool sort of way. I don't subscribe to the "misdirected brain information" theory. I have had deja vu experiences where, while it is happening, I know what someone is going to say or do next. Very freaky!! I've always thought it was my real life re-enacting dream sequences. Katalina 10-28-2002, 01:00 PM Originally posted by Baboon I have had deja vu experiences where, while it is happening, I know what someone is going to say or do next. Very freaky!! That's how it is for me too. It bugs me out, but it's cool. I get mad though because for me anyways, it never lasts long enough.. It's there, you feel it, and then poof, it's gone. turtle_o 10-28-2002, 01:02 PM Originally posted by Katalina That's how it is for me too. It bugs me out, but it's cool. It's there, you feel it, and then poof, it's gone. that's how mine are,... i know it's a deja vu experience and that i saw it all before, but it just moves way to fast, it isnt like i can pause think about it and then say what the other person will say before they say, it's just all rushing along way too fast. ;) TryckPony 10-28-2002, 01:03 PM I've had two really strong cases of it. In houses of all places. Both are houses I'ce never seen or been in, yet when I did go in, I knew I'd been there before. One was my parents first house, before I was born. The other was a house in Missouri. Too Strange. Shogun 10-28-2002, 01:13 PM I have it like two or three times a week. But only once have I "caught" it before it happened. It's fun though. turtle_o 10-28-2002, 01:28 PM the weirdest is when i have deja Vu dreams with people i've never met before and then i meet those people later on sometime in my life. *weird* speaking of that, i had a dream last night. OH MAN! i WISH it was a deja Vu dream, but it wasnt, it was just a regular dream.... because the guy in the dream was so hot, i'd love to meet him in real life. OH anyways. :p Shogun 10-28-2002, 01:36 PM Originally posted by turtle_o the weirdest is when i have deja Vu dreams with people i've never met before and then i meet those people later on sometime in my life. *weird* speaking of that, i had a dream last night. OH anyways. :p I'm just scared to see the end of the world. I've seen it once and it was not cool. My cases tend to happen within a week of my dream. But I did have a cool dream similar to Sakura's. But I'll leave that for a later discussion.:p seekerofvisions 10-28-2002, 04:25 PM Buttercup - what are your possible explanations for them? I have my own also and it deals with the possibility of collective consciousness and the fact that time is only relative to us. :) I experience many many strange things. Feelings that someone I love is in a dark place emotionally and needs someone to talk to, so I call them and they indeed are. Or that someone I know is in danger... and is. I once smelled gas, very strongly. Checked my house, wasnt coming from my kitchen or heater. Called around family and found out that someone had fallen asleep with the stove flame on and the flame went out and was leaking gas. I have feelings that something is going to happen, or that I shouldnt go in that lane and then something happens in that lane. Or I get the instinct to NOT go on that freeway and then there is an accident. Happens all the time. I dont question it, I just go with the flow. :) This is not to be confused with the idea that I depend on it though. :) suncrush3r 10-28-2002, 05:39 PM Well there are 2 explinations of the old Deja Vu experience. The cool version and the lame scientific version: lame: 1. your mind picks up and sees something either on TV, radio, or actually experience. When you go to sleep your sub conscience plays the events back so when you expierance the events again in every day actavity you think you get the weird deja vu experience. Cool: everything you do in live you have already done, sort of pre-determined experiences. Everything you do has been done before. And in your dreams you have brief glimpses of the future. You are experiencing something you have already done before Spiritual: When it comes to places and people that you swear you have meet there is the "past life" stance. Whether you one believes in past lives or not is debateable, for sake of argument lets say past lives are real. Typically people who love each other or really care for each other tend to meet each other again. One example could be your current mother may have been your daughter in a last life. Souls try to stay together with whom them feel close too. Of course there are exceptions to the rule DotCom 10-30-2002, 01:05 AM YES! I'm not the only freak who gets that..um..I mean...I hear it's perfectly normal. yes. Corporate Avenger 10-30-2002, 04:58 AM I experience Deja Vu once in a while, It sure is a strange feeling, I've always heard it was a memory from a past life. Sometimes I get it really strong but for no apparent reason. And on that note, I just thought of something... DotCom 10-30-2002, 09:21 AM It happens to me almost daily Katalina 10-30-2002, 09:54 AM Originally posted by DotCom It happens to me almost daily That's really neat Dot, that it happens daily for you!:) I wish it was like that for me. After reading that it happens to other people. Why is that? Why does it happen at all? Even my oldest son has said to me that he has experience this too. That's the first time I've ever heard of a child experiencing Deja Vu. I'm sure there are many though. I don't understand why we do it and it will drive me crazy trying to find out why. I know for me, none of my deja vu's has been about dreams that I've had in the past. It's just a feeling I’ve done this before, and every new thing while having this experience is familiar, as well as knowing what's going to happen. Then it's gone... It's like it teases us. Let you see just a little bit, then hahaha no more for you! I like to believe it's something telling me I'm on the right path and to push on Criminal 10-31-2002, 02:47 AM I do have this feeling quite often. When I was in Florida a couple of years back I went to this seaside resturant that I knew it was impossible for me to have been before since it was my first trip to Florida. It was populated by old people mainly. The walls had pink wallpaper with flamingos on them. There were tropical plants. There was old time music on the PA. The waitresses all wore those old fashioned uniforms that watresses wore in the 50s. I knew this entire place from a dream. I had this feeling as soon as I walked in that I was there before. It was not an unpleasant feeling but a feeling like I returned home or somthing. I still have dreams about the place. seekerofvisions 11-01-2002, 02:37 AM Anyone get that deja vu sort of feeling when holding something that you've never owned before? I had that feeling when I was trying to buy a talking stick. It was weird, it felt warm in my hands and as though it belonged to me. It was unsettling. I ended up not buying it, not because of the feeling but because it was a bit costly. I just have conversations with ppl and sometimes know what they are going to say before they do. Or know what someone is wearing b/c cause I've seen them in my dreams. What a trip though. AdamJ 11-01-2002, 02:50 PM I do believe it has never happened to me. If Im going someplace Ive never been before then Ive never been there and its all new. ÆSiR 11-01-2002, 03:10 PM I've never had any long periods of Deja Vu... 5-8seconds at the most. Usually its just dumb ****. For example... It can be just pouring a glass of soda. But everything can feel soooooooooo damn famiar.. not just in a I poured a glass earlier sense... It's more than hearing, sight, sound, taste, feeling... its another sense... a sense of being/displacement... like someone hit the rewind button for a second. I know what you mean about the whole conversation part. You know you heard it before. everyword... every sound... you know whats coming (But you really don't) It's like you know whats happening... but you can't confirm its happened until it happens. You can't put a definate finger on it.. like.. It doens't work like this: In 3 sec a yellow cat will run by, then a bird will squawk, and ... It does work like this: A cat runs by. "Yes Yes! THats happened before!!!" .... :: A bird Squawks :: "Yep! and that! Damn Deja VU!" At least thats how it is with me... I can't fill in peoples words... but after they have said them I know I have heard them before. I only get it like once a month or so. I wish I got them more frequently, and for longer periods of time. There so cool! -Æ (What... yeah) Marty-Mar 11-09-2002, 06:44 PM I'm also getting that feeling of Deja Vu here. It must be Speculation. Tala Hotyk 01-22-2005, 04:53 AM Ya ever get a Deja Vu of a Deja Vu? Like something happens and your mind tells you that you had a Deja Vu of the same thing happening before even though you didn't? I get those now more often than just Deja Vu. SG-1 01-22-2005, 12:39 PM Yeah, I get a feeling of Deja Vu once or twice a month. It is quite interesting. The strength of it varies from pouring a glass of soda while watching a movie to driving on I-17 or talking with people. I think, while strange, it is actually really cool! :nice: Katalina 01-22-2005, 12:46 PM Yes, that has happened to me too. benos 01-27-2005, 05:44 AM have a posted before? benos 01-27-2005, 05:45 AM have i posted before? wallijonn 02-01-2005, 02:48 AM I tend to think that dejavu is remembering a dream long forgotten. You saw it in a dream and now you see yourself in reality doing the same thing. As far as dreams go, I saw me taking a trip. I wrote everything down. 5 years later I landed in Arizona and overheard a girl next to me say that she and her friend had to get to Sedona to see the sunset. So I said, "why not"? Everything I saw in my dream from 5 years previous happened. Since I knew what was to happen I did it exactly as I saw it in my dream. It was a great vacation. |
