Let me just say..............Wow,
I mean Wow. I am a big fan of the whole "Survival Horror" genre and Resident Evil is at the front of the pack.
Some of you remember way back when the PSX was the first to introduce us to the series known as Resident Evil. Since then most of us have come to learn of the whole "story" behind Umbrella Corp. and Racoon City.
This installment on the Gamecube is basicaly a rehash of the original game. On the surface, polish and shine. Underneath, meat, enough for even the toughest gameplay carnivore.
First of all lets begin with the Polish......
Up goes the framerate, polygon count, and A.I.
and out comes the "shine" Eye candy Galore. Those of you who remember the awsomness of the mansion are in for a pleasant suprise. The extreme detail of the rendered backgrounds is sooooooooo sweet you may as well just call your dentist for a root canal. Just walk around the main hall and admire the detail. you can see the reflection of the characters on the marble floor!! Add to this, the way characters react to certain situations, the look of panic on their faces when a zombie closes in on them. The character animations are smooth like 'butta. Its really like playing a movie.
Enemy A.I. unreal, it creeps me out how a zombie can know how to play dead until just the right time and then..............chomp.
But the meat of the game is in the puzzles. New ones have been introduced(wheee) and old ones redone. For instance, gone is the "retrieve the four medals to open the gate" puzzle. Now you actually have to piece together the medal to get through! This coupled with the enhanced graphics, and A.I. make this one a "must have" for all gamecube owners.
thumbs up
