View Full Version : Shooter is blackmailing.... RedLine99 10-22-2002, 09:27 PM From Moose's last speech, sounds to me the guy is trying to collect some cash elctronically. Would make sense. Manu 10-22-2002, 10:14 PM In a recent note the sniper said 'your children are not safe...' AdamJ 10-22-2002, 10:38 PM Wonderful... why is this so difficult.. don't we have his phone number? 86Dude 10-22-2002, 10:51 PM The best thing to do would be to piss him off. If angered he will make mistakes. Someone will probably die, but he will get caught. How do they make him mad? Well, they certainly shouldn't beg him to call like Moose did. Pathetic. Most importantly, the scum sucking media should not be giving him coverage 24-7. Hard to believe that 1 individual has highjacked an entire state, and to a large degree an entire country..1 man and a rifle, amazing. Manu 10-23-2002, 12:44 AM Very good points 86. My guess they are just trying to 'stop' peolpe from getting killed. They need to realize they probably can't. You COULD be right, piss him off and he will get sloppy. Corporate Avenger 10-23-2002, 12:52 AM Do the police in that area drive real slow or what? They said they blocked a huge area right after the shooting and the guy still got away. Are the cops out there just totally inept or what? This is why things like body armor should not be illegal, since the police cannot protect the people they should be allowed to protect themselves. But sorry, can't do that, it's illegal.. 86Dude 10-23-2002, 12:54 AM Originally posted by Corporate Avenger Do the police in that area drive real slow or what? I agree with CA. Corporate Avenger 10-23-2002, 01:36 AM Originally posted by 86Dude No kidding. I didn't know body armor is illegal? Maybe I have been sleeping. Last i heard it was, makes no sense, who has ever killed someone with body armor? It's like outlawing knee pads.. I think those guys in the infamous North Hollywood bank shootout in 97 used it, and it was pretty damn effective. It would be nice to have if you wanted it, people should have the choice. I think the police here said the body armor should illegal because it they can't take down a suspect wearing it. But exactly how many times has that happened in the last 100 years? Once? Everybody is scared to go outside, kids can't go to school, but people that have to go out like that bus driver should be able to defend themselves. At least they should have the option. And a gun to shoot back with.. Corporate Avenger 10-23-2002, 01:38 AM Originally posted by RightWingZealot my god. someone help me. I agree with CA. God.. The letter was neatly printed on lined paper and included a number of grammatical errors, including sentence fragments and misspellings, said sources. I wonder what else the letter said then. Thats much more than a ransom note/extortion bid, thats a manifesto basically... Also, I am curious as to if the incidents when he called the task force actually happened. If he has called and they 'hung up' on him, Im sure they have his voice recorded, no? knave 10-23-2002, 06:41 AM "Do the police in that area drive real slow or what? They said they blocked a huge area right after the shooting and the guy still got away. Are the cops out there just totally inept or what?" --You have to remember that suburban DC is one of the most congested areas in the country, and pretty large. It doesn't take long for this guy to fire one shot, hop in his car (which may or may not be a white van) and lose himself into heavy traffic on the main roads (like the Beltway or the Rockville Pike), with thousands of small side roads. He chooses his areas carefully, without any coherent pattern, so predicting where he'll be is almost impossible. The time it takes to "block a huge area" still leaves time for him to get lost, and the police can't search every one of 10s of thousands of cars. I suspect the shooter has access to several cars, probably rentals, and the white van thing is grasping at straws. Swappy 10-23-2002, 09:36 AM *checks closet* Ummm, having body armor is not illegal QtrHrsmn 10-23-2002, 10:45 AM Originally posted by 86Dude No kidding. I didn't know body armor is illegal? Maybe I have been sleeping. Where is body armor illegal? I own several sets. One other point. Based on my experience as a sniper, the WORST thing you can do is pick a bad spot to C & C, and then try to move after hitting your target. The BEST thing you can do, is dig in, and stay put, until the situation calms down. I wouldn't doubt, that the guy is only moving 300 yards or so from his primary firing position, and then digging in for a few hours... Easy for YOU to say, you dont have KIDS that go to school in ASHLAND like me! Their school AND soccer field is litterally sandwiched between I95 and the woods in Hanover Co  Im not willing to sacrofice MY girls! RedLine99 10-23-2002, 12:51 PM The BEST thing you can do, is dig in, and stay put, until the situation calms down well...lets assume they don't have dogs looking for you:p Not to mention all the techy stuff out there nowadays. I think he hits and runs. Would make no sense to hang out. jillianjiggs 10-23-2002, 12:53 PM I'm assuming that this either is not a very well educated person, or that this person hasn't been in the US that long by the serious grammatical errors in the letter. (I agree that this looks more like a manifesto) To me, this is a terrorist attack. If you look past the fact that yes, he did strike those people, you'll see that his shooting skills aren't really that great. Hell, I only shoot every couple years, but I could hit those targets with the rifle that he's using. He's not that far away, and a dummy could aim to kill with that rifle and a scope. The wierd thing is that this TOTALLY does not fit the profile of a serial killer. It's bizarre. Even criminologists are coming out saying 'I don't know WHAT to think.' Did you guys here that the Son of Sam killer is pleading with this shooter to stop the killing spree? RightWingZealot 10-23-2002, 01:23 PM yeah.. SOS is looking to make nice for his next parole hearing 86Dude 10-23-2002, 02:02 PM Originally posted by Fordman50 Easy for YOU to say, you dont have KIDS that go to school in ASHLAND like me! Yes, it is easy for me to say keep them out of the soccer field, in the school, or at home.. problem solved, no sacrifice necessary. Do what you have to do keep them safe and exercise common sense. The point is that he is loving every damn minute of this, especially the media saturation. Take that all away, and not only will he still kill, but he will push himself harder to regain the lost spotlight, leading to costly mistakes. If he fires 2 shots a day instead of 1, then that is one more opportunity for him to screw up and many more opportunities for his ass to be captured and killed. Or the police chief can keep trying to be the sickos friend, attempt to communicate with him, acting like the inept ATF puppet that he really is, getting absolutely nowhere. knave 10-23-2002, 02:11 PM "If he fires 2 shots a day instead of 1, then that is one more opportunity for him to screw up and many more opportunities for his ass to be captured and killed." Can you imagine how long Chief Moose would remain in his job if he announced that henceforth the stategy is to invite the sniper to take twice as many shots at innocent people? The reason Chief Moose does not adopt this absolutely brilliant strategy is because he's "an inept ATF puppet," obviously. 86Dude 10-23-2002, 02:28 PM Originally posted by knave Can you imagine how long Chief Moose would remain in his job if he announced that henceforth the stategy is to invite the sniper to take twice as many shots at innocent people? Thats not what I stated, but I could care less if he keeps his job. The police chief isn't in the position to invite the sniper to do anything, he is powerless. Unfortunately, this is the unlucky bastard chosen to speak to the media, the person the sniper sees. I said make the coward mad by ignoring him or by telling to get ****ed, and he will probably make mistakes. Does that mean he will try to kill more people? Probably, but it could also evolve in other ways. Originally posted by knave The reason Chief Moose does not adopt this absolutely brilliant strategy is because he's "an inept ATF puppet," obviously. He isn't runnng the show anyway, so yes, I think that makes him pretty damn insignificant, a puppet if you will. hammegk 10-23-2002, 04:38 PM Originally posted by QtrHrsmn One other point. Take the shot, jump in your car, or on your bicycle-motorcycle -- an accomplice is driving a white van in the area and will head into the traffic jams -- you just sit tight for 6 hours. Library, see a couple of flicks, visit the mall, whatever. Could be a .223 match pistol, or if a rifle it would break down to fit a knapsack, or a well-designed hiding place in a car. I may have to eat those words (well 10 of 13 isn't the best advert for cop effectiveness) but yet, looking at & listening to what is being postulated -- a hole in the trunk for gun port for example -- I'm ready to start shouting coverup/conspiracy. That pair look like they would need help to load a gun. CIA anyone? Although Islamic connection still hovers out there. |
