View Full Version : What and How much?
AdamJ 10-13-2002, 12:23 PM What is (or are) your favorite hobby(ies) and about how much money do you spend on it in an average month.
I do not mean one time big purchases (unless you do it every month), but more along what do you spend to stay active in the hobby?
---------
I am usualy either dealing with photography, R/C trucks, my vehicles, PS2, or computers. And I usually spend about $150 per month average.
Scott 10-14-2002, 02:04 PM I used to spend a lot of money on Magic the Gathering cards..
what i wouldn't give to have some of that back :(
Redfield 10-14-2002, 11:50 PM On PC related stuff...next to nothing.
On movies, quite a bit. Probably in the ballpark of 100 bucks or so.
On games and equipment, only about 50-60 bucks.
On photography, I'll spend approximately 30/month. I wonder what the other shutterbugs spend.

That's the most expensive hobby to keep up, for sure. :D
AdamJ 10-15-2002, 04:29 PM Yeah, I can agree. Im in a state of constant deficit
I have tooo many hobbies
hunting:
if you include the ATV's, well ( I mean WELL) over 10k
bought to buy a new rifle, that will be just over 500
bought a new climbing deer stand
feeder
etc
Electronics:
I have spent too much on this stuff in the last year or 2
new DVD player, HDTV, cabinet, I swear I buy a DVD every week, digital cable
PC.. that goes in spurts.. I buy games here and there, but that is it for now, just built a new one last year and bought a laptop
models:
I have a few models, I have 2 to put together now. I don't like the plastic glue kits. I like the Maisto's.. fully painted and just a simple put together
92Notch 10-15-2002, 06:04 PM I like to Hunt and camp and stuff ..... I also like to drink and party and stuff.
I've got well over 50k tied up for the Hunting / Camping hobbie between guns / camper / Truck (I only use the Truck for recreation / long trips .... I never take it to work or just out for the hell of it ... so it should cound as a hobbie expense IMO) ... my guns and camper are paid off though ... so reoccuring it's probably only
Holy ****, I just added up some of my "expenses" ... turns out I kill 'bout $10k a year on "dumb ****" .... hobbies and what not (car crap / shooting / hunting / fishing / camping / drinking / partying / random **** (hookers and what not :) .... J/k). oh well, it makes me happy ..... I just never paid attention to how much I spend ...... so that's where it all goes :)
Baboon 10-15-2002, 07:18 PM My number one hobby is mountain biking. Between riding time and staying fit in the gym, I spend about 12 hours a week on it. Then there's the extra time spent wrenching and cleaning my bike. I just started racing, and I plan on racing a full schedule next season.
As far as money goes, well mountain biking is not a cheap hobby. I bought a bike last year for $1100. I just bought a new one which cost me $3300 (and I had to wait three months for it). Then there's parts, clothes, tools, misc equipment. In the last 12 months, I have easily spent $5000 on mountain biking. Good thing I can afford it. :)
Then there's my wife...same hobby, same story, same $$ (she too has bought two bikes in the last year).
