Powerboss 09-17-2002, 01:50 AM Why do we get barraged with Noelle Bush and dont hear much less a whimper about Algore Jr?

Media in Gore Jr. DUI Bust Cover-Up
News of 19-year-old Albert Gore III's Sept. 5 drunk driving arrest wasn't reported for a full eight days - until a political gossip column in the Washington Times broke the news blockade yesterday.
The media cover-up of Gore Jr.'s latest brush with the law stands in marked contrast to alcohol-related offenses involving the Bush family, stories the press has repeatedly rushed into print over the last two years.
As of Saturday morning, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Associated Press and most other big media outlets had declined to cover Gore Jr.'s alcohol-fueled antics, which came to an abrupt halt when he was pulled over by military police just outside the Pentagon.
But after Gore spokesman Jano Cabrera confirmed the arrest to the Times "Inside the Beltway" column, the paper went public with the news on Friday.
buggy 09-17-2002, 01:57 AM Cuz his family isn't important right now... if Al Gore was in the white house *scary* - then we'd hear about it. :)
Powerboss 09-17-2002, 02:00 AM Scary indeed, but he is a candidate and per that article I posted last night he is indeed running....scary.....
Unrepresented 09-17-2002, 02:08 AM As a person likely to vote Democrat I can't say I want him as the party candidate much myself.
And mind you that's for his political history, NOT his grades.
Justin
Powerboss 09-17-2002, 02:12 AM I am going to try to change that in the next 2 years Justin...:D
Unrepresented 09-17-2002, 02:21 AM It's so nice to see you interested in the democratic party. You're not thinking of changing horses midstream are you?:D
This was actually one of the major concerns I had with the open primary elections in here in California, you could vote across party lines for the candidate you thought would be best for the other party to have running...
The first thing I assumed would happen was sabotage...
Justin
86Dude 09-17-2002, 10:11 AM Why vote at all? Both parties are equally (well, almost equally) scum. Not matter who is president, the bureacracies will still be beyond our power to control, and government will just continue to get bigger. The time for reform has come to an end.
No one cares about Gore's kid because (can we hear it folks) GORE ISN'T PRESIDENT!
jillianjiggs 09-17-2002, 12:06 PM What kind of website is that? I mean, what is their spin on things?

But Gore has been the VP, has run for the presidency, and is going to run again. Therefore his kid is as viable a target for media attention as Bush's niece.
was has will be..... IS NOT

He's going to run again, he's a target, along with his alcohol impaired sprog.
TryckPony 09-17-2002, 01:27 PM During the presidential race I did hear about his DUI. The only reason he's not a big thing now is because Gore didn't win.
NaNaNaNa 09-17-2002, 03:15 PM Not only is he not President right now, but the Bush girls are hella scandelous. It's not like they got busted once and that was the end of it. They are constantly making complete A**es of themselves in front of the media. As a president's child you don't have room to f*** around as much without the world finding out about it. Gore's son isn't in the public eye because his father isn't in the forefront of the public eye right now.
JoeyNormal 09-17-2002, 03:16 PM Why...do...people...care...about...this? Gore's son was driving drunk, fine, he broke the law, punish him. But why does this become a point of public interest?
JoeyNormal 09-17-2002, 03:17 PM What exactly have the Bush girls done?

Marty-Mar 09-17-2002, 05:35 PM I could care less about Al what's his name.

The point is that if it were a bush, like Noelle Bush a couple of weeks ago, it gets front page, national media attention.
When its a liberals kid they bury it.
He also has been busted for doing like 110mph down the freeway.

Newsmax is a right leaning site.
Although I dont see how that really matters in that instance as the story was broken by the Washington Times, a newspaper.
JoeyNormal 09-18-2002, 05:39 AM PB - Yes, but they are related, no?
However, I fail to see why either should be news; although I seem to recall Bush stressing "family values" et al a lot more than Gore.
Powerboss 09-18-2002, 05:51 AM PB - Yes, but they are related, no?
Irrelivant.
I thought it was all the lefties telling us what people do in their private lives is private....Is that only when its a fellow lefty?
Yet, they are the first to bring it up and when its a R it gets big publicity, when its a D it gets buried.
However, I fail to see why either should be news; although I seem to recall Bush stressing "family values" et al a lot more than Gore.
So any family that has a member with an addiction is a sign that the family is somehow failed?
That makes many families "failed".
You can have a family member with an addiction and still try to espouse and promote family values cant you?
Its not like they're helping her get drugs or encouraging her to do them, in fact, they're doing what they should.....putting her in a place where she has a chance to get off them and get her life in order. Sounds like good family values to me, its what I'd do for my kids.
JoeyNormal 09-18-2002, 05:57 AM Powerboss, you misunderstood me. I believe niether is news. It was private and should have remained that way. A man's actions are more important than his second-cousin's ex-boyfriend's alcohol problem...
I believe your double standard is parnoia. Gore is not president. No one really cares about him at present - although, as he is standing again, they probably should. Bush is president, therefore is more scrutinised. The same goes for his family, as they are connected to him.

Uhm... well, technically, they've done... things most every teenager will engage in... and somehow - with all the **** going round - this crap makes the headlines. Petty crap really. A very clear indicative of what alot of Americans dig - soap opera-ish drama. Jerry Springer's wallet is also proof of that.
JoeyNormal 09-18-2002, 02:58 PM Exactly.
