Shale-gas wells in Poland, you say. Effort to become one of the world's major energy sources, you say. Break coal addiction in Polish villages, you say. Those are very well favoured perspectives for us all. Everyone just forget why this shale gas production wasn't started earlier. And it calls for directional drilling, and hydraulic fracturing, and seismic modeling 3D GEO. By the way France has forbidden hydraulic fracturing for instance. And no wonder. Just remember last Japanese earthquake in Miyagi, Japan. It moved axis of the equator on 10 centimeters. And just before it Japanese were fussing around shale-gas production either. As a Pole I just would be very glad those rosy prospects. But as a geologist I want to warn everybody. For silly money we are risking with our own existence. This shale-gas production will upset seismic balance of entire East European region. Aren't there enough natural calamities going on in the world everyday? A lot of scientists, and Maya historians, and mere panic mongers are yelling about coming Crack of Doom. Should Poland make its contribution into its approaching?
