View Full Version : Anyone else bored at work?
ncj010 05-18-2001, 02:22 PM This morning the phones would not stop ringing. This afternoon the phones won't ring at all. This place dies on Friday afternoons. Does anyone else have a problem like this where they work? How do you fix the problem? What do you do to get you through the day?

SmilingJack 05-18-2001, 02:27 PM Personally, when I am bored at work (which is most all of the time) I try to write letters to people that I have been neglecting. I get soemthing done and it looks like I am actually working at the same time.

That is the same job that I have. So I have an excuse to play on the computer but there is just some much time that can be wasted on the net. Do you get the calls form people who don't even know how to turn the computer on? Those calls are always interesting and make me laugh.
There are a few sad calls like that. I work at a hospital, so im working with doctors, and professionals, so MOST of the problems we see are actual problems, or them not knowing how to use a certian piece of software.
My job is only half phone support. The other half is actually going on site to help them. So it is nice to get it changed up.
The 'best' call I had was when a doctor's laptop wasn't checking her new email! Turned out she was 'sorting' the inbox by filename and not by date :-)

baseballcatch13 06-13-2001, 10:16 AM I find that at my office the work can be a little non-existant. I normally just play on the web and hope that my boss does not look at my screen. But you could always make problems and then go fix them, that works sometimes you just better know what you are doing.

Don't worry Scott, I'm going to have to be on my feet for four hours before I get a break, reading the same thing over and over into a microphone, smile at idiots and not call them such to their faces, punch the same buttons repeatedly, and I don't have net access like the rest of these bums, all for minimum wage. This is the universes way of kicking my butt for having it so easy last summer. Nearly 10 an hour to play on the computer all day long... ah... I miss that place. *sighs*
