OK, I need a little help here since thins is a new area for me...
FINALLY got my new DSL package from BellSouth. It came with an ethernet based modem which so far is working fairly well on my PC. NOW, I want to be able to share my DSL connection with the family PC in the living room.
My PC has an ethernet connection built into the motherboard, and the family clunker:D has a LAN card already installed (for an occasion like this). THAT part is no big... Here's my question:
Can I take set up the internet connection 'network' with just a hub between the modem (it's got it's own power supply) and the PCs or do I (or should I) need a router between the modem & the hub? The idea is for either PC to be able to access the net w/o the other having to be on.
Both PCs are using Win98SE & we MAY do a little bit of LAN gaming as well. SO, if the router is optional but'd help, I'd be interested in hearing the pros & cons.
Thanks All :)
