I made the mistake of trying to eat this stuff...
http://www.spam.com/assets/hp/GoodGone3_animation.gif
...directly from the can. I can usually get thorugh about 1/2 to 2/3's of it before my body says no more. Now, I am not suicidal, I was just trying to figure out what I could eat for 6 days that does not require cooking or special storage...I do not think spam is one for me now though.
I figure canned peaches, beans, fruit cocktail would work, but I need other ideas. Any suggestions?

nope no fire, it will leave burn scars in the desert. We can have a portable stove though, so i am looking into that. I was just hoping to find stuff that might not need to be cooked, and I wouldn't die from eating it for 6 days striaght either.

Hot dogs are actually pre-cooked. Heating them up is only for the taste benefits. I'm not sure if you'll have a cooler or anything, but if you can keep them cold, you can eat those right out of the package. Soup out of a can is good - just get a bigger container, mix in some water, and you're set (it's better warm, obviously, but you won't die - if you're worried, go with vegetarian vegetable - the alphabet soup - which is fine uncooked).

you need some sort of Protien....
camping places have a small burner that you can attach to a propane canister....and..you can heat beans and stuff on that.....even throw a fiew hot-dogs in with it.
other than that...the fruit is good too...bring LOTS of power bars...they don't go bad...
dried fruit is good for a quick boost of enerdy....trail mix and the like...if you are really hardcore..you can eat Millatary Rations...food in a bag...yumm
maybe you can pickle some eggs too...keep them in a jar....good source of vitamis..and you won't have to keep them cold..if you pickle them...
and well..there is always Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwitches http://discussanything.com/Ubb/smile.gif.

wow...these are all good suggestions.
um we will have a cooler, but ice will be hard to come by...we did not want to rely on it. Since ice is so hard to get and/or is going to be costly, we were only got to use it now and then to keep our water cold...
yeah, soup is a great idea and so are the power bars and trail mix. I will have to look into how much MRE's are though =).
thanks

Keep it in the cooler so it doesn't dry out (no ice needed).
That can keep ya going good for six days.
Also, like you said the canned fruits/veggies.
You can get soup (that doesn't need water added) and bury it in the sand, warm it up and have at it.
Go to a backpacking store. Lots of good 'just ad water' meals.
Also you cna get a small backpacking stove if you do not have a camping stove.
But going without a stove I think would be foolhardy.
