COLLEGE STUDENTS DEPRIVE THEMSELVES OF PIZZA
DALLAS (Wireless Flash) -- Here's some food for thought: 350 high school and college kids are giving up pizza for a new study on the effects of "Pizza Deprivation."
Pizza Hut is sponsoring the study, which will observe the students over the next 30 days to better understand pizza cravings.

Students must record their feelings on mini-tape recorders whenever they get cravings, and to make sure they don't fall off the wagon they will be given emergency candy kits.

Pizza Hut VP Larry Dykstra says all the pizza-deprived participants are big pizza lovers, and some have already admitted they can't wait to go back to eating pizza.

When the results come out in June, Pizza Hut will use them for marketing to the largest group of pizza eaters -- "Generation Y."

But...'emergency candy kits'? When I'm hungry for pizza, I don't think 'Hmm...I really want pizza. Or candy.' It's a craving for the salt and the grease (as gross as that sounds). They should give them emergency quesadilla kits or something. I think that would be a lot more helpful.

But giving them quesadilla kits would not help Pizza Hut any. I am sure they want nothing more, but to see those kids grovel for more pizza. So candy kits will have to do.

I wonder, how is Pizza Hut supposed to use withdrawl symptoms as advertising? "Buy our pizza, get addicted, and then never be able to stop?" Or "If you don't buy it you're going to start getting a nervous twitch and biting the arms of random strangers looking for obscure Spaceballs characters"? I dunno, maybe it's me, but those are -not- attractive selling points. And now I'm full, but I still want pizza. Dangit, why'd someone have to bring this up!
