View Full Version : Brave, noble Palestinian resistance fighters attack strategically important Israeli kindergarten

A Palestinian rocket exploded near a kindergarten in southern Israel on Tuesday, police said, just hours after Israel’s military chief warned the army would have to carry out a broad offensive in Gaza to stop the rocket salvos.

The kindergarten was empty at the time of the rocket strike, which destroyed a storage shed next to the building. A second rocket landed in an open area nearby, police said.

Earlier Tuesday, Israel’s military chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, told a parliamentary committee that the current situation, in which Israel carries out limited reprisals in response to rocket fire, cannot be sustained.

“Eventually we will have to go toward a broader offensive action in Gaza to stop the rockets. We cannot keep on going round after round of violence in Gaza,” he was quoted as saying.

Gantz’s remarks were relayed by a meeting participant, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the meeting was closed.

The latest flare-up in fighting took place several weeks ago, when Gaza militants fired volleys of rockets that killed one Israeli civilian and wounded several others. Israeli airstrikes targeting the rocket squads killed 10 Palestinian militants.

Over 1 million Israelis live within range of the Gaza rocket fire. The attacks have severely disrupted life in southern Israel.

A senior military official told The Associated Press this week that Hamas, along with smaller militant groups, now possess sophisticated anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons. He said they also have rockets capable of reaching Tel Aviv, roughly 50 miles (80 kilometers) from Gaza, meaning that Israel’s main population center would be in range.

The official said many arms have flooded into Gaza in the wake of the Libyan revolution, with looted weapons making their way through Egypt’s Sinai peninsula and into Gaza through smuggling tunnels under the border. He spoke on condition of anonymity in line with military regulations.

He said many of these arms have reached Islamic Jihad, responsible for much of the recent rocket fire.

Expect a hell of lot more if the Palestinians are ever granted statehood without an enforceable peace agreement in place.

Expect a hell of lot more if the Palestinians are ever granted statehood without an enforceable peace agreement in place.... That won't happen.
Here's the peace agreement's statehood clause that would get Israel's signature: "If any attack on Israeli territory is determined to have originated from the Palestinian state, Israel will send successive and increasing levels of force until those responsible for such attacks have been neutralized." First a cop to work with Palestinian law enforcement if the attack was a common crime, escalating to full military intervention if the attack was organized by a large force. Reasonable Palestinians would agree to the deal, since it practically commits Isreal to aid the Palestinians on military and criminal matters that spill over to Israel. It lowers risk and cost to rational Palestinians if they are invaded by another country or taken over internally, by a force that is violently hostile to Israel.

I'd sign it myself. Of course, they'd have to come up with a settlement re: Jerusalem.

What do you think should be done about Jerusalem?

Very tough question. Control by Israel for now, then police authority shared with Palestinian authorities in E. Jerusalem after the state demonstrates common interest and peace with Israel. Longer term, if Muslim ME fully accepts Israel as a good neighbor, the city might be considered common territory, rotating administration between Jordan, Palestine & Israel.

There's essentially no chance of that happening. The Arabs are paranoid that the Jews are going to raze the dome of the rock as a prelude to rebuilding the Temple of Jerusalem.

CR, so do you feel that Israel should keep the entire Jerusalem?

... the Jews are going to raze the dome of the rock as a prelude to rebuilding the Temple of Jerusalem.

That's exactly what they should do. They should have done it years ago. It was built as a deliberate insult in the first place, and should be treated as such. Monuments to Islamo-Nazism are insults to the entire planet.

Why not? What rights do Syrians and Egyptians have to any part of Jerusalem???

If they want the West Bank ethnically cleansed for their personal, bigoted insanity they have no right to be claiming Jerusalem.

I doubt it, in fact, I have the feeling that Guido hasn't been in a fight since getting beat up as a little kid, as his parents probably protected him from the dumb redneck kids in Texas as much as they could, but either way, he doesn't give me the impression of being a tough guy in real life, and neither do you:p.

Dude, I really I don't care if you believe it or not. If anything I've lost too much damn weight and need to get back in the gym.

And Guido is not a native of Dallas. I think you of all people should have figured that out by now.

I knew you would come back to your ultra-right-wing Zionist roots sooner than later!!:nice::nice:

Not that I agree with your statement at all, but I like the fact that you stopped kissing Islamist ass, finally:beer::D

Not really. 86 wants to burn down most shit, because he believes it is corrupt. "Cleansing by fire" stuff, although our impressive list of wars didn't seem to clean up very much.

Actually, I think Israel and the muzzies deserve one another, and since I believe the world is going to burn but still turn, I want a front row seat to the end of it. I want to shake my head and say I told you so while enjoying the chaos that comes from this of this giant ball of fail. So no Ganga, this is not a pro Zionist argument anymore than it is a pro Palestinian argument. I'm just sick of waiting around for the chickens to come home to roost.

Close. Think of it as a cold reboot. Things must burn. That's what people do: Burn shit, and then recreate it. It's not that I think we should burn everything, rather, I think it is the end result of our flawed existence. We're a fucked up species.
