I don't mean the house I live in, I mean the area. The only reason I even moved here in the first place was because my sick mother (who I was a caregiver for) wanted to be closer to other family members who live nearby.
Now she's gone, and I'm stuck in this...place. Moving back to where I came from- or just about anywhere else- is out of the question. My job is here, and practically everyone left in my family (which isn't very much) is here. Beside all that, there's no way I could afford to live back there now, anyway. The cost of living has skyrocketed in the past few years.
The worst part is that I don't have a car or even drive. At least then I could get away for a few hours when I liked. They have bus service here, but it doesn't go anywhere (most routes are 30 minutes or less), doesn't operate on Sundays or holidays, or after 6 PM on regular days. Want to go somewhere at night or after work on the bus? Too bad!
There is only one mall in the whole area- and it sucks big time. The next closest one is like 70 miles away.
Things to do? Only if you own a boat, or are into alcoholic beverages (neither applies to me).
I have no children, and it's just as well, because there ain't much here for kids either. Sure, there are parks and playgrounds, but no zoos, no aquariums, no amusement parks. But wait- there's always the crappy MALL, where the kiddos can roll around on the floor at Old Navy while Mommy shops for sweat pants...or would that be at Walmart?
There are no museums, either, unless you count the jokes-of-museums they have in a few places around here. You know what I mean: where you go in, and they have a few little relics from the 1930s and maybe a paper mache school mascot, and that's about it.
Dinosaur bones? Ha! Art galleries? Please! Ancient artifacts? Not in this town, honey!
But hey, it gets better. In another week I'll have a couple o' days off from work again...and then...I can go...back to...Walmart.
Oh. Boy. I can hardly wait. :nonono:

You should let us know the name of the municipality so that we can stay the hell away from Dodge. :)

You'd like that, wouldn't you?
Well, here's just a little hint: When you see the tumbleweeds gather, in their heavenly home...go as far in the opposite direction as you can. Run, run away!

Sounds better than El Paso. Quit your bitching.

sounds like you need to formulate a plan, shit usually does not improve all on its own.

You should move across the border. Ciudad Juárez sounds like a swell place to live if one is a man and wants to kill women without consequences. I guess the police are not even concerned. And to blame their lack of concern of the cartel wars is lame.
Wikipedia:
Over the past 10 years in Juárez there have been over 4,000 feminicides which have attracted wide attention. Bodies are often dumped in ditches or vacant lots. Grassroots organizations in the region report an additional 400 women as missing. Despite pressure to catch the killers and a roundup of some suspects, few believe the true culprits have been found.
The Daughters of Juarez: A True Story of Serial Murder South of the Border, by Teresa Rodriguez (Author), Diana Montané (Author), Lisa Pulitzer (Contributor).
El Paso is a dump, Ciudad Juarez is a hell hole. I followed that story a bit - used to have El Paso in my territory. One of the theories is that the serial killer lives in El Paso and travels over the border to kill these women at night. So neither country wants to deal with it.

I love where I live. I could never understand living where one detests even for a job. I hope your surroundings one day improve.
