Fav Musical(you can post more than one..but be prepared to..answer ===> )and why...
Fav Movie of a musical and why... http://discussanything.com/Ubb/smile.gif
I would have to say that it's a toss up between Ragtime, Tommy, and A Chorus Line.
Ragtime because it's a huge show...wonderful music, gripping story...(based on a pulitzer book) and amazing acting.
Tommy because it is by The WHO...'nuff said...it was performed by the who at woodstock! http://discussanything.com/Ubb/smile.gif.
and a chorus line because it has a great story, gripping characters, and wonderful dance. i feel for everyone of the characters being an actor myself.
MOVIE:
West Side Story-
What more can i say about this movie...it it soo amazing it still chokes me up. It won the best movie oscar (along with a grip of other ones) the year it came out...and really introduced a wonderful stage play to a whole generation..and it still remains to be one of the most performed musicals.

phantom and les miz for the music, solely.
rent, for the plot. ppl may disagree with me, but the theme of friends sticking it out through toils and troubles really hit a nerve in me.

singing in the rain, without a doubt.
where else can you find a musical with so many catchy songs, ...
and need i even discuss the absolute genius of donald o connor, in 'make em laugh' ... absolutely *incredible* footwork. "moses supposes" is also another great choreographed hit.
white christmas, for its songs, and for rosemary clooney's incredible footwork. that woman has one of the fastest tap toe sequences i've ever seen, in 'that's choreography' ...

Aphasia 09-17-2001, 04:33 PM 'Chicago,' probably...usually, I'm not a big fan of musicals, but I loved it when I saw it in London a couple years ago. 'Tommy' is pretty good, too, though I've only seen a high school production of it (uh, like 5 years ago, easy).

Rayney 09-17-2001, 08:43 PM Grease - LOVE that one....favourite of all time. I love the story line for some reason and Im a HUGE Olivia NJ fan.
Jesus Christ Superstar - I have no idea why....maybe the fact its a funky movie that actually is enjoyable to watch even though it is bible stories.
West Side Story - The dancing is amazing
Singing in the Rain - Its sweet and funny.
There are too many!! I love Julie Andrews Movies too...
Oh The Wizard of Oz - it was so beautiful and Judy Garland was so great for the role, far better than Shirley Temple would have been.

I'm gonna have to agree with that, too...though there is a difference between the Rocky Horror Show (the musical) and the Rocky Horror Picture Show (the movie). I've been in my college's production of The Rocky Horror Show (outside, no movie screen behind us, dancing around in our underwear) for the past two years, and I'm hoping to keep it up for the next two...it's a great musical to be in.

Shadowhawk 09-27-2001, 04:12 AM No votes for "Paint Your Wagon"? Only seen the Movie version of it, but I thought it was funny as heck. Who'd thought that Clint Eastwood could (sort of) sing too?
Now, if I could just figure out my favorite old movie for that other thread... http://discussanything.com/Ubb/biggrin.gif
