Rayney 09-17-2001, 01:30 AM *Covers eyes with hands* Spice Girls....not when they were big time but afterward.
I own a Backstreet Boys Album (It was a gift!)....and both Savage Garden CDs.
I think I should however say I DO have good taste im music, because I have a lot of Beatles, Hendrix, Stones, etc.
Ok ok, I also own the Proclaimers "Im on my way from misery to happiness today...."
*SIGHS* no matter what the other CDs are they dont outweigh the bad at all....

I hang with hardcore underground music types. Once on the road to see Jesus Lizard, I mentioned having Springsteen tickets and took a beating. So I posed the guilty pleasures question ... and one guy was dumb enough to mention ABBA ... and was tossed outta the car at 70mph on I-94. http://discussanything.com/Ubb/smile.gif
I'll toss out one ... "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper is a BE-U-TEE-FULL song.
Scott 09-17-2001, 02:20 AM yah...i agree....
oh..and ABBA rocks! http://discussanything.com/Ubb/smile.gif

I have Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP too....ack.
Like I said though.....the good outweighs the bad. Hopefully.

But c'mon all ye who lurk and lay bare your soul ... for the truth shall set you free!
Rayney 09-17-2001, 03:01 AM Hmmmmmmm James there has to be more than "Time After Time".

Guitarophile 09-17-2001, 03:26 AM I feel no shame for any of the music I own. I guess the most uncharacteristic album I've got is Boys for Pele. The most "pop" album I've got is Hybrid Theory. The mp3 that creates the most emotional response is a tie between There is no if - The Cure and Outside - Aaron Lewis & Fred Durst (live acoustic). No guilt there. You may judge when ready.

Aphasia 09-17-2001, 07:18 PM Oh my, where to start...
Singing along with Rocky Horror songs at the top of my lungs (usually with call lines);
Black Sabbath, Ministry, Godsmack, Sevendust, opera-metal bands: ie. Therion, Laibach, Apoptygma Berzerk etc. (cuz I'm just a teenage dirtbag, bay-bee...);
The Proclaimers (not as much as I used to like them, but I still listen to them from time to time);
some Sesame Street songs (uh, they remind me of my little brothers, who live 3000 miles away);
Dennis Day;
Marilyn Manson, sometimes - he's got some catchy songs, but I'm not a big fan of his image;
'Teenage Dirtbag', by Wheatus...because that's me. And I sing it really, really loud whenever it comes on (woohoo, it's next on my playlist, too);
Skynyrd, sometimes;
Meatloaf;
'Copacabana' by Barry Manilow;
Carly Simon, James Taylor, etc.;
The Nightmare Before Christmas songs;
glam rock (this one is more of a guilty obsession...);
ska, from time to time;
techno, every once in a very rare while (ok, you may commence with stoning me to death now);
John Prine (the hippie of country music, basically...but he's funny);
Oh yeah, I like Styx, too.
Ok, that's enough soul-baring for today, I think. You may start laughing at me whenever you want...

Raynewitch ... you put me on the spot, so I did the honorable thing ... I left town. A business trip actually. Gave me time to search my soul. Couldn't find it.
But I did find the soundtrack to "Annie".
"It's a hard knock life, for us!"
And "Red Red Wine" ... the UB40 version, NOT Neil Diamond.
Sometimes I think I should feel a ton 'o guilt for being a huge Bryan Ferry fan. But I don't.
Patrick ... no, can't say I'm happy exactly ... but thanks for trying. http://discussanything.com/Ubb/smile.gif

Powerboss 10-18-2001, 04:29 AM Hmmm, well some of those tunes you guys mention arent to bad. Abba, Styx, Barry Manilow.
Howabout, Neil Diamond, He had some damn good tunes.
Anyone else heard of the Band "M"?
They played "Pop Music" among others. Pop, pop pop music, pop pop pop music. I had the album, it was pretty damn good. It was almost like a new wave mock to disco.
Now heres one, its not that I like them because I dont, but they removed a false impression I had of them.
Hansen, they actually have some musical talent. I saw a free concert on Direct TV, I initially turned it on to scoff and laugh but then after a few songs, I was like hey, this is better than those Backdoor Boys who just jump around on stage. They actually play thier own music, what a novel idea.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
