Okay, before I launch into my story of what just happened to me a couple hours ago, allow me to preface by saying that I was told pretty much universally that as a freshman I would not be allowed to do more than grunt-level crew work on a show.
Now, earlier today, at about 4:00 Eastern time, the sophomore directing major students had a dinner for us, all home-made stuff. During the course of conversation, one of the students, a woman named Robin, said that she had recently been bumped from ASM to Stage Manager on an independent show she's working on, and proceeded to offer us positions if we wanted them. Before she even got far enough to tell us what the show was, I had already said "I'm down." And so, ladies and gentlemen (I'm assuming), it looks like I will be backstage in a couple weeks with a radio & headset (HUZZAH!), working as an ASM for the show. How frikkin' cool is that???
I'll post when I find out what actually is going to happen. For now it's all theoretical. Anyhoo, I'm off to take a much-needed nap, or something. Bye.
