What were your thoughts on the movie?

i personally thought that it was pretty sweet...but there were some issues.

The anamation was incredible...but there were some issues with mouth movement. And at times whent hey were walking..they looked a bit like monkeys with their arms hanging down.

everyone who saw it...will all chime in with a giggle when i say "Oohh...it's warm"..

haha

ANimation was far form perfect...

Textures were perfect. Story/plot was GOOD. But the voice acting/dialogue blew.

see...the voice acting i think was far from the worse problem...

Ming-na (ER, and many other animated movies) did an excellent job.

Ving Rames...Alec Baldwin...Steve Buchemi...they all were pretty good...

i didn't have a problem with their delivery...it was what they were saying was not so good

Well, that's because its written in another language, and some guy is working his tush off converting all the stuff into english. French, for example, has a phrase "menage a trois" which literally translates to "eat has three", but really means "three are one".

The Japanese language is far more complex, and with squinty eyes, it is very hard to distinguish between many of the tiny differences between the funny scribbling.

YOU HAVE NO CHOICE TO SURVIVE!

I was told the animation was perfect, but the story was very lacking, as was the voice acting. You can see it on the ads when one character is falling in space or a pit or something, screaming an unenthusiastic "no."

I'll probably go see it though.

Actually language is not an excuse...it was written in english. The screenwriters are both american (one was born in Tokyo to an american officer) One of the lead screenwriters was nominated for an academy award for his screenplay for Apollo 13. Also, the directors and producers are quite americanized, though they are japanese. The film was made in Hawaii. Unfortunately, language cannot be the excuse for poor dialogue. It simply was poor writing in many parts of the film.

Actually, it translates to 'relationship (or couple) with three'. There's a little accent above the a, which makes it 'with' instead of 'to have'. And manger (or mange, as I think you figured) means eat, not menage.

Anyways, about the movie...I figured out what was wrong with the mouth animation - they all talk like they're wearing braces (you know, with their lips out just a little too far). The plot was a bit confusing, too I loved how they'd say 'What's going on?' and someone would answer 'I have no idea...' and then they'd never come back to it and explain it - you just had to take it on faith, I guess. Anyways, so it left a lot of loose ends. And the ending, well, it was just silly, but that's been touched upon. Overall, though, I liked it. The animation was pretty amazing, I thought....It was purdy.
