Man guys now is the time to get RAM! My buddy got 1 gig of PC133 RAM for under $100! You can't beat that! In January I purchased 512 meg for $250 (2 256meg DIMMs) and I thought that was a good price. I think the decline in price is due to the RIMMs taking over the market.

Yeah I bought 128 ram about a year ago and paid 70 bucks, and thought I was getting a deal.

I just bought two 128mb PC133's for $20 a piece from Crucial, also known as Micron. These have a great overclocking potential to the high 150's, and also have free UPS 2nd day air until Aug 31.

Thanks for the find!

I love my crucial memory. Good warranty too.

Yes, indeed. I just bought two 256mb PC133 DIMM's at Costco for $35.00 each, which is $45.00 less than I paid for one in March.

Since I had one 256mb chip in my system already, as well as a 64mb, when I put another 256mb in, I now have 576mb. And I put the other one in my wife's computer to bump her's up to 320mb.

Good bye "Out of Memory" errors... http://discussanything.com/Ubb/biggrin.gif

Buyer Beware. RAM isn't created equal. You also get what you pay for. I would only buy memory from Crucial, Mushkin, or Corsair or Siemens Infineon. The memory is so well made that you can easily overclock them to insanely high numbers, which is cheap performance.

Figure that you have a 1ghz computer with PC133 memory, which means its a 133fsb with 7.5x multiplier. If you spend a few more dollars on quality memory, you can overclock to 1.125ghz leaving your chip at its default multiplier and not increasing the heat. If your motherboard is good enough, its not too uncommon to get to 160+ mhz on cas3. 160x7.5= 1200mhz or 1.2ghz. By spending a few more dollars on quality ram, you basically can overclock it to another processor speed.

I don't necessarily agree with that. I've done the same thing with memory from Simple Technology, PNY, and a few other manufacturers of so called "cheap memory", with few failures. But as a general rule, I've learned not to overclock anything. If you want faster, buy faster. You'll buy less in the end. Don't force slower to run faster as it invariably shortens the life span of whatever you're overclocking, thus requiring more frequent replacement.

Hmm, it is all about the margin of overclocking.

I mean squeezing a 10% boost out of your memory isn't that big of a thing. All that takes is an extra cooling fan or two.
