I'm the man too! See my title! http://discussanything.com/Ubb/biggrin.gif

I also work as a Network Tech supporting 4,000 users off of Token Ring and Switched Ethernet. I have to say Ethernet is faster, but MUCH more of a pain.

I also am a System Admin for my group of 12 users. Nothing major to do, just user id and server admin.

I'd like to pick your brain about Cisco Switches if you have the time! http://discussanything.com/Ubb/smile.gif

Scott---Switches? I have time! The answer is to turn spanning tree and auto sensing off, whatever trouble your having !! http://discussanything.com/Ubb/biggrin.gif that screws everything up.

Group admin? let me guess, Slowvelle?

Nope I don't use Novell. I just am the NT admin for my group of 12 co-workers. In fact I am about to remove one of my co-worker's access to the color printer cause he is dumb and always breaks it. http://discussanything.com/Ubb/biggrin.gif

Yes Spanning Tree can suck, espcially when a loop is created. http://discussanything.com/Ubb/rolleyes.gif I think I am gunna go practice on my spare 5509 in my lab!!

Its amazing how you can think you know 'stuff' about computers/networking, and then realize how little/nothing you know.

are there any browsing problems while running multiple (4) superneted V-LAN's (using the DHCP Server) through a catalyst 6500 when all the client pc's have the master browser election diabled? All the servers (DNS/WINS/DBC/Etc) are on a seperate V-Lan. ..... what happens when there is no master browser on a given V-Lan?

I'm more familiar with the 5500s but regardless you shouldn't have any problems if you are using WINS. Having elections off will certainly help to reduce un-needed bandwidth, however any non-WINS PCs won't be able to much (if anything) when they browse.
