I have a couple of ongoing problems one is concerning software. A friend of mine tried to load Adaptec Easy CD Creator onto my box(CompaQ 5838)from a HP disk that came with his HP CD-Writer. Needles to say that it did not work but I can not get rid of these messages that pop up everytime I start up asking me to install CD-Writer disk to continue install.... I have gone into Regedit and every where I can find and deleted everything that says Adaptec but I am still gettin these messages. The other problem is.. Ever since I got DSL I get Tystray errors IExlporer errors Rnapp errors and they will pretty much cause me to have to restart. They are page faults and always have to do with kernel32.dll. The DSL people tell me that it is a Microsoft issue and you know getting any support from Microsoft is next to impossible. Any feedback would be appreciated. If I continue to try things something will work eventually but I have been dealing with these problems for a long while.

Have you run anyt and all windows updates for your OS version? Do that! get the latest I.E build.

Regarding the adaptec thing. Check your win.ini for any adaptec related startup file.

Go to run and run msconfig

Click on the startup tab, uncheck anything adaptec related on that tab.

Hope that helps.

You might want to try to reformat. Re-installing windows won't work because Windows does not write over corrupted files.
